ROGOWSKA 4-6 5-7 SVITOLINA: Svitolina wins! After an entertaining final few games, the match ends in anti-climactic style as Rogowska bows out with a double fault on match point in front of her home crowd. It will be tough to take for the Aussie, but the better player triumphed.
ROGOWSKA 4-6 5-6 SVITOLINA: Once again, Svitolina coolly sets the tone and throws down the gauntlet with a routine hold to move within a game of victory once more.
ROGOWSKA 4-6 5-5 SVITOLINA: If there were any nerves swirling around Rogowska, she sure as heck didn't show any. A love hold for the Aussie, finishing with a correctly challenged second-serve ace on game point that erects all kinds of hysteria in the crowd.
ROGOWSKA 4-6 4-5 SVITOLINA: Svitolina responds with an easy hold of her own to put herself a game away from the third round.
ROGOWSKA 4-6 4-4 SVITOLINA: Rogowska wastes no time in following up her break back with a hold of her own. The pressure rising alongside the heat.

BREAK - ROGOWSKA 4-6 3-4 SVITOLINA: Another break back, but this time it’s thanks to Rogowska’s brilliance. A running, screaming, sliding and all-sinews-straining forehand winner pick-up on break point offers the Australian another lifeline.
ROGOWSKA 4-6 2-4 SVITOLINA: Rogowska quickly holds her own serve too, as the crowd rises to support their girl.
ROGOWSKA 4-6 1-4 SVITOLINA: No mistake from Svitolina this time around – she easily holds serve to put some clear daylight between the pair. At the change of ends, both women quite understandably cower in the shade and beneath their icepacks in the sweltering heat.

BREAK - ROGOWSKA 4-6 1-3 SVITOLINA: Sadly for Australia, the resurrection was short-lived. A couple of strong backhands from Svitolina and she snatches the break back.

BREAK - ROGOWSKA 4-6 1-2 SVITOLINA: Just as the match seemed to be edging out of Rogowska’s grasp, a slight ankle-turn from Svitolina followed by a great backhand return from the Aussie brings the set back on serve.

BREAK - ROGOWSKA 4-6 0-2 SVITOLINA: Svitolina opens up Rogowska’s service game with a breathtaking full-stretch volley followed by delicate, winning dropshot. Who says the younger generation has no variety? A precise down-the-line backhand return seals up the break, and she’s flying.
ROGOWSKA 4-6 0-1 SVITOLINA: And a love hold from the Ukrainian to kick off the second set. Some brutal backhands to both corners and the teenager is beginning to show her pedigree here.

SET - ROGOWSKA 4-6 SVITOLINA: Well, that escalated quickly. After looking second-best for most of the set, Svitolina captures the final three games and takes it somewhat routinely. The Australian faded badly at the end there.
ROGOWSKA 4-5 SVITOLINA: Svitolina pours a copious amount of salt into her opponent’s wound by compounding the break with an easy hold. The favourite moves into the driving seat for the first time today and stands a game away from the first set.

BREAK - ROGOWSKA 4-4 SVITOLINA: Finally, some action as Svitolina generates her first break points of the day. Rogowska saves the first with a deep backhand and a triple fistpump, but a deep return from the Ukrainian forces the error and drags the match back on serve to the dismay of just about everyone on Hisense aside from Svitolina herself.
ROGOWSKA 4-3 SVITOLINA: Another game, another routine hold. More interestingly, a ballboy just placed his hands on the ground, only to frantically release them because the surface burnt them! Another brutally hot day in Oz.
ROGOWSKA 4-2 SVITOLINA: Svitolina moves forward into the net, only to be punished mercilessly by Rogowska for at least the third time. She may not make her way up there too many more times today.
ROGOWSKA 3-2 SVITOLINA: Another routine hold for Svitolina, who seems to be slowly finding her feet on Hisense.
ROGOWSKA 3-1 SVITOLINA: Despite over one hundred ranking spots between the two, it’s the wildcard who looks the higher-ranked player - her movement and forehand making life so easy for her.
