Osaka collects her winnings, and the trophy from Li Na. She takes a deep breath before heading to the microphone.
"Um - hello. Public speaking isn't really my strong side. Huge congrats to you, Petra, I've always wanted to play you."

Kvitova receives her prize, and is smiling nicely for photos before throwing herself at Li Na for a hug.
"Hello everyone! It's crazy, I can hardly believe I just played the final of a Grand Slam again," she says, and then she starts to cry.

OSAKA 7-6 5-7 6-4 KVITOVA: Osaka doesn't let the noise or the rain unsettle her, nor does she even stop to think - she steps up to the line and sends her first serve down before following up with a forehand down the line. Another good forehand, a point back for Kvitova, and a brilliant serve, and Naomi Osaka is the Australian Open champion and the new world number one.

And it's starting to rain...
-
OSAKA 7-6 5-7 5-4 KVITOVA: Absolutely sensational serve from Kvitova to hold and force Osaka to serve it out herself. Again.
-
OSAKA 7-6 5-7 5-3 KVITOVA: Osaka isn't sure whether or not to challenge an out call, and umpire Louise Engzell tells her, "It's your last challenge." She opts to - it's in. Kvitova tries for a forehand volley but fails. One game left for Osaka.
-
OSAKA 7-6 5-7 4-3 KVITOVA: A shout of "Come on!" as the Osaka backhand comes to play to move her 0-30 up. Kvitova nets a return to give the Japanese three break points, but grabs them back, marking it with a fist-pump.
-
OSAKA 7-6 5-7 4-2 KVITOVA: Kvitova is threatening a break, but Osaka wins her next three service points in a row under little pressure, finishing with a lovely shot on the forehand into the corner once more.
