Good morning and welcome to Eurosport's LIVE coverage of Saturday at the Australian Open. We'll be focussing on the third round match between Simona Halep and Venus Williams. They should be on court shortly.

HALEP IS THROUGH, 6-2, 6-3! That was very impressive from the number one seed! The Romanian took the match to Williams, who couldn't cope with the pace of her opponent. Williams was right there at the start, but was broken down and Halep will now take on the other Williams sister!

*HALEP 5-3 Williams (6-2): A huge rally to finish that game and Halep gives a big fist pump! The world number one realises how important that could be. Williams will serve to stay in the match.

Halep 4-3 WILLIAMS* (6-2): It's a fourth break for the world number one in this match and she'll be hopeful that this particular break will be the one to effectively give her a place in the fourth round.

*HALEP 3-3 Williams (6-2): The pressure at the moment is coming on the Williams serve. That was a comfortable hold for the world number one, with Williams' forehand breaking down again!

Halep 2-3 WILLIAMS* (6-2): The American edges ahead once again in this second set. Halep applied some pressure there, but no breakthrough. Her returning has been great tonight (this morning).

*HALEP 2-2 Williams (6-2): After that marathon game on the Williams serve, Halep holds to love emphatically. She clinched the game to love with a wonderful winner down the line.

Halep 1-2 WILLIAMS* (6-2): That was a crucial hold for Williams. Halep was applying some pressure with a few big returns, bringing up a break point, but the American just about holds.

*HALEP 1-1 Williams (6-2): The American stops the rot and breaks back immediately after dropping her own serve! Halep allowed her levels to drop a little there and Williams took advantage.

Halep 1-0 WILLIAMS* (6-2): That's six games in a row for the world number one and three successive breaks of the Williams serve. She really needs to tighten up that forehand!

HALEP TAKES THE FIRST SET, 6-2! Williams started well, but there were simply too many errors from her in that first set! Halep held her nerve, fought off a break point in the final game, to put her nose ahead.

Halep 5-2 WILLIAMS*: The world number one has the double break. Williams is starting to break down with a few errors flowing off her forehand. Halep will now serve to take the first set.

*HALEP 4-2 Williams: That could be a huge game in this first set. Williams was after Halep and had FOUR break points, but couldn't take any of them. Good defence from Halep at times.
