Asked what it means to reach her first Grand Slam final after the match, Collins tells Eurosport: "It feels amazing. It's been such a journey and it doesn't happen overnight. It's been so many years of hard work and hours at an early age on court. I mean, yesterday I was talking about all the early mornings where my dad would get up with me and practise before school.

"It's just incredible to be on this stage, especially with the health challenges, and I'm just so grateful. I couldn't be happier."

Collins hits back with a lightning-fast return, with the pair trading points before Swiatek double faults again to take the game to deuce. Just when it looks like Collins might break once more, Swiatek draws her into a couple of losing rallies. It's a glimmer of excellence from the world No 9, but she needs more where that came from.

Collins is playing excellent tennis, holding serve again with minimal difficulty. Swiatek needs to find answers, and fast.
