NADAL 6-1 4-1 - BREAK - Nadal makes his move once again, breaking without too much trouble as he continued his inexorable march towards the third round
-
NADAL 6-1 3-1 - Another game goes the way of Nadal as he closes out another hold to 30 despite being forced to do so from behin da second serve. The Spaniard still is not serving as well as his opponent but he is much more potent on his returns and general ground-strokes
-
NADAL 6-1 2-1 - Boom! Better from Gimeno-Traver once again as he finds two more aces in quick successsion to hold to love and at least get his side of the scoreboard ticking over. Can he keep it up this time though, that's the question?
-
NADAL 6-1 2-0 - Nadal races through his first service game of the set. Four first serves, four point successfully won for the younger Spaniard as he consolidates the early break in this second set with little trouble

NADAL 6-1 1-0 - BREAK - Ouch. After that confidence boosting game at the end of the first set, the wheels have well and truly come off again for Gimeno-Traver as he drops serve to open the second, Nadal breaking to 30 after winning just one point behind his first serve. Nadal is well and truly on his way through to the third round now

NADAL 6-1 - SET - Nadal races out to a 40-0 lead, throwing in his second ace just for good measure, and that brings up another three set points. But he quickly loses concentration and a series of errors allow Gimeno-Traver back into the game at deuce. But finally, on his seventh set point, Nadal wraps things up when Gimeno-Traver's ground-strokes break down
-
NADAL 5-1 - Nadal squanders two set point, allowing Gimeno-Traver back into the game despite trailing 15-40. And he also wastes a third chance on a lengthy point as the older Spaniard hauls his compatriot back from the brink of a bagel set. And Gimeno-Traver even comes up with his first ace of the day to then earn himself a game point, before following it up with his second ace to get his side of the scoreboard ticking over. Back-to-back aces. What a way to avoid a bagel set!
-
NADAL 5-0 - So far Nadal is only serving at around the 50 per cent first serve success rate but he is simply not being challenged on the return by his compatriot, who has won just one solitary point on the Nadal first serve. And the world number one eases through another sevrice hold for the loss of just the one point to leave Gimeno-Traver serving to stay in this incredibly speedy first set

NADAL 4-0 - BREAK - The world number one has said that he considers Barcelona a vital stop if he is to hold on to his world number ranking ahead of the rapidly advancing Novak Djokovic. Which possibly explains why he is playing here rather than taking a break. And he is off to a flier. Gimeno-Traver has to save another break point off a second serve (which he does successfully) but he can do nothing on a second as his first serve lets him down once again and Nadal grabs the double break
-
NADAL 3-0 - The world number one has a slightly tougher time of it behind serve this time around as Gimeno-Traver take two points. But Nadal comes up with his first ace of the day to hold and consolidate the break without any real trouble
