GAME, SET AND MATCH FERRER! Ferrer comes to the net to convert a winning volley. Superb winning shot and Ferrer has match point. He sees out the match by thumping the ball beyond Murray at the net. A superb win for Ferrer. He holds his nerve for a 6-4 7-5 win. Murray not really at the races. Murray with 44 unforced errors and 21 winners. Ferrer with 35 errors and 19 winners.
5-6
Ferrer with a solid service game at the business end of the set, and Murray is going to need to pull out the stops on serve to force the breaker. Ferrer keeping the pressure on with a range of thumping groundstrokes, but it is the ace that enables him to clinch the game for a 6-5 lead. Murray serves to stay in it.
5-5
Another tough game for Murray on serve, but he comes up with the goods at deuce as a big first serve followed by a forehand winner enables the Scotsman to level at 5-5. Was only a couple of points away from defeat there. All very nervy for the crowd at the O2.
4-5
This match so unpredictable. Just when Murray seems in control, he throws in a loose game. Two breaks for each man in this set, but Ferrer is on the cusp of a famous victory over the Brit, who has been quite flat today. Murray needs a big service game now.

BREAK FERRER! Murray forced to stave off another break point aided by a big first serve followed by a winning overhead smash at the net. Another bruising serve flies beyond Ferrer to secure advantage, but an error on the forehand side sees the score return to deuce. A double fault from Murray - his first of the set - hands Ferrer the break back. We are back on serve.

BREAK MURRAY! Another change in the mood of this match. Ferrer throws in a couple of loose forehands in dropping his serve for the second time in this set. Murray was in a spot of bother, but is suddenly ahead again with the break in the bag. The number three seed now only two games short of levelling the match.
3-3
Murray forced to stave off a break point that could have signalled the end of this match. Ferrer lets out a huge roar in annoyance as Murray restores parity at 3-3. All to play for in this set. Will Ferrer rue missing that chance to move 4-2 clear?
2-3
Ferrer hits back from trailing 2-0 to lead 3-2. Murray's good start to this set is wiped out by a Spanish player who is made of granite. Difficult times for the Scottish player, who doesn't seem to be enjoying his day out there before a crowd of 17,000 at the O2. Ferrer now with three aces.

BREAK FERRER! Murray still not dealing well with his hip injury. Misses several key shots. Misses an overhead to hand Ferrer three break points. A sloppy backhand from Murray moments later is good enough to hand the Spanish player the break as the ball flies long. We are back on serve.
2-1
Murray recovers from trailing 40-0 to force deuce, but he can't grab the double break that he craves as Ferrer clings on for dear life with a winning volley and an error from Murray on the backhand side that flies wide.
2-0
Much better stuff from Murray. Suddenly beginning to motor in this match. Ferrer won't go away, but the British number one has raised his game to cement the opening break. He claims the game after Ferrer fails with a slice into the net.

BREAK MURRAY! Murray opens the second set by breaking Ferrer after getting treatment on his right hip. Needed three minutes of treatment, but it seems to do him no harm as Murray does wonderfully well to get the ball back over the net at 30-40. Ferrer comes to the net, but can only thrash a forehand into the rigging as he is broken in the opening game. Chance for Murray to build on this early break.

Murray needing treatment on his hip injury. He calls for a medical time-out. Not the best of signs for Murray out there. Will need to come up with two winning sets of tennis otherwise Ferrer will have beaten him on a hard court for the first time.

SET FERRER! Murray seems to be struggling with a hip problem. Not moving freely as the score reaches 30-30. Ferrer just fails with a lob that bounces out. Murray continues to make errors as a forehand flies long. Ferrer booms a forehand beyond Murray to bring the score back to deuce, but a big first serve and a winning forehand gives Murray advantage only for Ferrer to come up with a winning drop shot at the net. Ferrer claims the set on the second set point. Murray is needing some treatment.
4-5
Ferrer throws in a double fault as Murray sees a chink of light with another break point, but Ferrer is quick to snuff out the danger. Murray still with the chance at deuce, but he knocks a forehand into the net before Ferrer knocks a winning forehand down the line to hold. Murray will serve to stay in the set.
4-4
40 minutes into this match. A break for each man, and Murray with two aces. Murray looks the likelier figure, but Ferrer is proving to be a tough nut to crack. The Spaniard will need to be scraped off this court by the looks of things.
3-4
No sign of a break point in that game. Ferrer continues to stay at a consistent level in not giving up cheap points to Murray. A poor attempt at a drop shot gives Ferrer the lead again by the odd game in seven. Pop star Peter Gabriel is watching the action from the side of the court.
3-3
Murray wins a stunning rally at 30-30. Looks like Ferrer is going to bring up a break point as he sticks a volley into the corner of the court, but Murray produces a stunning backhand winner on the run. The score reaches deuce before Murray crunches a forehand winner across the court. He levels at 3-3 by coming to the net to convert an overhead winner.
2-3
A much better service game from Ferrer. Much better. Not the biggest server in the world, but he is moving Murray from side to side, and benefits in moving clear by the odd game in five by winning seven straight points.
2-2

BREAK TO FERRER! Three straight forehand errors from the Scot gives Ferrer the gift of three straight break points. Ferrer breaks back on the second break point, and suddenly we are back on serve. Murray making basic mistakes, and is punished by the little Spanish grafter.
