FEDERER (7-5, 6-3) – BREAK = GAME, SET AND MATCH FOR FEDERER – he finishes the set as he began it, with a break, he needed two match points to take the win but more good stuff in that game. An impressive second half performance and he is into the final where he will play Jo-Wilfred Tsonga or Tomas Berdych.
-
FEDERER (7-5, 5-3) – Federer moves just one game away. This second set has been a serving masterclass from Federer. Another hold to love, Ferrer not in any of the points, and Federer has now dropped only one point on his serve in this second set.
FEDERER (7-5, 4-3) – Federer has been pretty poor on his backhand side today. A few loose shots again in that game and Ferrer holds easily. As long as his serve holds up though Federer will be okay.
-
FEDERER (7-5, 4-2) – Ferrer can’t get anywhere near the Federer serve in this second set. Another quick hold to love means he will only have two more chances to crack the Federer serve and save this match.
-
FEDERER (7-5, 3-2) – Double fault number five from Ferrer makes it 15-30 and then Federer draws him into the net next point to bring up two break points. Fed had a big chance to hit a winner on the first after a 20 point rally but fired into the net and then a good serve from Ferrer brought us back to deuce. Ferrer then wins the next two points too to stay in this match. He needs to find a break now though.
-
FEDERER (7-5, 3-1) – Federer putting the pressure on Ferrer quickly now. He holds to 15 – he is really not hanging about, and looks completely in control on his own serve. All he needs to do is hold out now to win but you suspect he fancies another break.
-
FEDERER (7-5, 2-1) – Ferrer wraps up a hold to 30 after winning one of the points of the tournament. He produces a backhand winning down the line off a Federer volley after defending a drop shot and then a lob in consecutive shots.
-
FEDERER (7-5, 2-0) – Federer has the radar working now and this is all slipping away fast for Ferrer. Federer with a quick hold to love and Ferrer must now hold to have any chance of winning.

FEDERER (7-5, 1-0) –BREAK FEDERER – he smashes a forehand return down the line after Ferrer left a second serve short. That is a break to 30. Ferrer needing to work harder to stay in points by a smoother Federer now and that is proving difficult for him.

FEDERER (7-5) – SET FEDERER….another big serve clinches the game. It was a hold to 30 against a plucky Ferrer. Not a superb set of tennis from Federer but he did enough to take it and he must now be overwhelming favourite to win this match and reach what would be his 100th career final.

FEDERER (6-5) – FEDERER BREAKS!!! The key point came on 15-30 when Federer won a 20 point rally. He just toyed with Ferrer who did well to stay in the point so long. Federer though followed a lob with a stab volley to earn two break points. He took it on the second point when Ferrer went wide with a ground stroke.
-
FERRER (5-5) – Federer is pushed to five deuces before he finally wins the game in about eight minutes. He did not give up a break point but Ferrer is finally starting to see Federer's serve a bit better. He won four points in that last game when Federer got his first serve in. Before that game he hadn't won any.
-
FERRER (5-4) - Ferrer continues to find good angles – in particular with his forehand. He holds again to 15 by keeping it simply but accurate and Federer needs to serve to stay in the match now.
-
FERRER (4-4) - Federer starts and ends a service hold to love with an ace. He also had an unreturnable second serve in that game that was over in record quick time.
-
FERRER (4-3) - Ferrer with good angles in his groundstrokes and he is very much in this set. He keeps it all on serve with a hold to 15.
-
FERRER (3-3) - Federer's first serve has been poor so far – under 50 per cent but he finishes the game with two aces to wrap up a hold to 30 so that might be about to change.
-
FERRER (3-2) - Federer gifted the initiative as Ferrer starts the game with two double faults in a row…and then has to save a break point too before finally digging out the hold. Bit of controversy on one point though. A ball was called out but Federer wasn't sure. He asked the umpire what he thought and the umpire said "it looked out to me" so Federer decided against using a challenge but Hawkeye replays showed that the ball was actually well in.
-
FERRER (2-2) - Some lovely smooth play from Federer despite losing the opening point and struggling with his first serve. Some excellent, unpredictable second serves and decent shot variety just seemed to leave Ferrer confused. Federer holds to 15.
-
FERRER (2-1) - The first two significant rallies in the match see Federer gradually gain control before Ferrer eventually fires into the net. That helps Federer get to deuce but then on another rally, Federer leaves a slice backhand short and Ferrer takes control with the forehand before, on the next point, he clinches the game with a decent first serve.
