Ferrer 6-3 5-7 1-6 – MATCH! The Spaniard hits just wide as he goes for the line. A serve down the middle and it’s 30-0. An ace down the middle and it’s three match points…even at this stage Ferrer is running everything down and he rescues one of them. And another…but this time Berdych does take it after closing down the angles and volleying the winner.
-
Ferrer 6-3 5-7 1-5 – Ferrer’s race has been run here. It’s 15-30, but then Berdych hits wastefully long off the return. He has Ferrer on the rack, but again lets him off the hook as he hits into the net. Deuce though as Ferrer knocks long, but advantage as Berdych does the same. Yet another wasteful shot from the Czech and Ferrer gets a game in this third set.
-
Ferrer 6-3 5-7 0-5 – Berdych runs into a 30-0 lead. This is so easy now as Ferrer hits the return of serve long. An ace out wide and that’s the game and pretty much the match.

Ferrer 6-3 5-7 0-4 – BREAK! Ferrer hits into the net and Berdych has another glimpse at a break at 15-30. Berdych thwonks a backhand down the line, which Ferrer can only get his frame two. Two break points…one saved as Ferrer is dogged and stays in it, but not the second and that’s the double break.
-
Ferrer 6-3 5-7 0-3 – Berdych has truly taken control of this match now as he powers another huge forehand down the line after what was a long rally. That’s Ferrer’s first point in 14 right there. It doesn’t really make a difference though as Berdych puts away another tough volley. Berdych takes the game to 30.

Ferrer 6-3 5-7 0-2 – BREAK! A long long rally is won by Berdych as Ferrer fires a crosscourt forehand wide. Unplayable from Berdych as he powers a big return up the line and eventually smashes the ball away. Three break points and it’s a fifth double fault to hand him the break.
-
Ferrer 6-3 5-7 0-1 – Berdych starts the final set in confident mood, overpowering the Spaniard with his forehand. Easy as you like as a final serve out wide is mis-hit by Ferrer for a game to love.

Ferrer 6-3 5-7 – SET! Ferrer gets the ball caught underneath his feet and scoops it long. He has to arch his back to reach the smash and makes it as Berdych hits the reply into the net. It’s 30-30 though as Ferrer does the same. Break point as Ferrer hits long, then the set as he does so again.
-
Ferrer 6-3 5-6 – Berdych is now comfortable on serve as he races into a 30-0 lead. Ferrer never gives up though and wears down the Czech who makes the mistake. Big serve again to the rescue though. A woeful forehand from Berdych and it’s deuce. Yet again the huge first serve puts him up and he holds when Ferrer fails to pass him. He would expect to make that shot.
-
Ferrer 6-3 5-5 – That backhand down the line has troubled Berdych all night and it does so again here. This time Ferrer’s breaks down and it’s 15-15. The Spaniard swots away the loose return of serve, but undoes his work with a slice into the net for 30-30. The ball could drop either way as it clips the top of the net, but it falls in favour of Ferrer. What a forehand on the stretch from Ferrer as he whips it back crosscourt for the game.
-
Ferrer 6-3 4-5 – Berdych finds the corner then smashes away the desperate return from Ferrer. The Spaniard retaliates with a vicious shot onto Berdych’s toes then a calm putaway after reaching the dropshot. The big man’s serve is firing now, it’s 40-15 and he takes the game after yet another heavy serve and easy putaway.

Ferrer 6-3 4-4 – BREAK! Berdych simply overpowers Ferrer for the opening point. Berdych makes Ferrer volley and the Spaniard executes it beautifully. Berdych clips the line on the return and Ferrer scoops his shot wide, then follows it with a backhand into the net for deuce…another unforced error and it’s break point…Berdych slams the return down the line and that’s yet another break!

Ferrer 6-3 4-3 – BREAK! Another poor backhand into the net from the Czech. A terrible serve, you could see that he got his throw all wrong. The second is in, but his forehand after a 10 stroke rally is long. Ferrer presented with the chance to go 0-40 with an easy forehand, but he shanks it long. Two break points as Berdych’s backhand yet again lets him down…what a crosscourt winner though from Berdych! He rips one at an incredible angle. All undone though as a woeful forehand is long.
-
Ferrer 6-3 3-3 – A short ball from Ferrer should really be picked off by Berdych, but he hits tamely into the net. Berdych has to guess as he leaves the ball high and in the centre and he guesses wrong. A game to love as Berdych hits long.
-
Ferrer 6-3 2-3 – Ferrer’s won 32 baseline points opposed to nine from Berdych. Ferrer wastes a good position as he hits a midcourt forehand wide. Another fabulous exchange again ends with Berdych volleying the winner at the net. A big serve down the tee and that puts Berdych in front in this set.

Ferrer 6-3 2-2 – BREAK!…Berdych viciously volleys an attempted pass into the open court for another opportunity…a brilliant volley again as he cuts the ball back across the net and Ferrer just can’t get there.
-
Ferrer 6-3 2-1 – Just too good as Ferrer whips a forehand pass crosscourt as Berdych failed to do enough to cover the open court. Berdych makes the right decision in letting the high ball drop as it goes narrowly wide. A poor backhand from the Spaniard and it’s 15-30. First couple of break points for Berdych as Ferrer invites the Czech to come to the net. Ferrer gets so lucky as the ball hits and dribbles over the net. Still one more chance…a woefully overhit forehand for deuce…

Ferrer 6-3 2-1 – BREAK! Again Berdych is forced to go for the lines and he misses. He’s hit 19 unforced error so far and only eight winners. The missile of a serve down the middle puts him up 30-15. The Czech completely shanks the half-volley. The roles are reversed there as Berdych on the defensive can’t stay in the game…break point…and he does it as Berdych doesn’t do enough with the volley and the Spaniard backhands a pass down the line.
-
Ferrer 6-3 1-1 – Double fault. The following point is sensational. Ferrer controls the rallyfor most of it, fantastic defence from Berdych. The Czech gets the advantage when he powers in an angled forehand, but on the stretch Ferrer pulls off a ridiculous passing shot that Berdych can’t get down to. Ferrer again tracks everything, but Berdych does enough. Berdych misses the volley by millimetres as it hits the net. Another ridiculous passing shot down the line for the game.
-
Ferrer 6-3 0-1 – A big serve out wide and Ferrer can only get his frame on it. Unforced error again from Berdych who can’t get into any sort of rhythm. He bangs down the overhead though with Ferrer struggling to get the ball back. Another smash into the corner and that is an important hold.
