LOPEZ 6-4 6-2 - Lopez's mind is clearly already in the locker room as his poor shot gives Isner a break point. The big American returns wide downt he ine and Lopez has another shot at getting back into this match. Once more the Spaniard can't lift his drop shot over the net... and this time he gets the win!

ISNER 6-4 5-2 - Lopez challenges a call of in on Isner's winner, and Hawkeye deems it was good by just the slightest fraction. Isner follows it up with an ace, and then goes outisde of Lopez again and gets the game.

LOPEZ 6-4 4-2 - Lopez keeps Isner honest by not giving him the chance to serve out the match, but he has a face like thunder! The Spaniard is not happy with his evening's work, that's for sure.

LOPEZ 6-4 3-1 - BREAK!! Isner keeps the ball low and Lopez can't get his drop volley back across. The American is winning the cerebral battle as well as the muscular one at the moment. He then converts his break point simply by outlasting Lopez in the rally!

ISNER 6-4 2-1 - Lopez appears to have lost his way a little, while winning that first set so suddenly has buoyed Isner, who cruises to hold his serve.

LOPEZ 6-4 1-1 - Great reactions from Isner to send a cheeky drop shot back from whence it came. The American has the chance to level at 30-30 but he clumsily charges to the net and can't hit the forehand over it. Lopez makes the most of that error and holds.

ISNER 6-4 1-0 - Excellent combination of deep slice and smash forehand from Isner, but Lopez hits back with a forehand winner down the line for deuce. Isner once again survives a scare.

LOPEZ 6-4 - SET!! A double fault from Lopez puts his American opponent 15-30 up. Lopez responds with some textbook serve and volley. Isner then wins the best rally of the match with an exceptional passing shot down the line for his first break point, and it's a set point too! Lopez double faults again and Isner claims the first set!

ISNER 5-4 - Lovely two-handed winner from Isner to open his service game. He then sends Lopez from one side of the court to the other but doesn't bank on the Spaniard's pace - he makes the drop shot for 30-30. Isner correctly challenges an out call on an ace, but Lopez pushes backa nd earns the first break point of the match... Isner makes him return two serves long and survives the scare.

LOPEZ 4-4 - Isner is just not pressurising the Lopez serve enough. When he gets into the rally he is not asking enough questions of the Spaniard, who hits his third ace of the set en route hto making it 4-4.

ISNER 4-3 - Lopez mounting the first serious challenge on the other man's serve, showing quick feet to respond to his approach shot being lobbed back with a smashed winner. A forehand winner from the Spaniard has us at deuce! Still no break points though, as Isner hits two in a row to keep us on serve.

LOPEZ 3-3 - A nice mix of the powerful and the delicate from Lopez, who just just dabs the ball back over the net after Isner's return to hold to 15.

ISNER 3-2 - Isner sneds his fourth ace of the match flashing past Lopez. No signs of either serve being threatened as yet.

LOPEZ 2-2 - A commanding service game from Lopez, although he gets a bit of stick from the crowd for taking his time over one particular point, and he holds to 15.

ISNER 2-1 - A brace of aces from Isner, but Lopez takes advantage of his opponent's lack of agility with a drop shot and then Isner fires wide for deuce. Lopez hits the net with a backhand and Isner goes on to hold.

LOPEZ 1-1 - Lopez looks to respond in kind, but double faults for 40-30. Isner forces deuce, but lopez holds via a neat drop shot at the net and a serve that Isner has to stoop down to meet but can;t return.
