Good evening and welcome to live text commentary of Juan Martin Del Potro vs Rafa Nadal in the semi-finals of the Indian Wells Masters in California.

So the number one seed is safely through where he will play either Roger Federer or Noval Djokovic. The second semi-final between those two is coming next...

DEL POTRO 4-6 4-6 - GAME, SET & MATCH - Nadal serves for the match. And gets off to a flying start as Del Potro finds the net. Del Potro then goes long for 30-0. Nadal brings up three match points. He only needs one as Del Potro goes long and Nadal is into the final.

DEL POTRO 4-6 4-5 - Del Potro serves to stay in the match. Del Potro pushes a forehand wide for 0-15. His serve then levels it at 15-15. Nadal goes long and it's 30-15. A couple of long rallies mean Del Potro has 40-30 and looks to force Nadal to serve it out. Which he does.

DEL POTRO 4-6 3-5 - Nadal opens with a strong serve for 15-0. Nadal follows up with two further big serves for 40-0 and it looks bleak for Del Potro. And Rafa is a game away from victory.

DEL POTRO 4-6 3-4 - NEW BALLS. Del Potro serves wide and Nadal cannot return. Ditto gives Del Potro 30-0. But the big man undoes his good work but over-cooking a cross-court forehand. Nadal goes long and Del Potro holds.

DEL POTRO 4-6 2-4 - Del Potro finally executes a drop shot for 0-15 but Nadal pounds down a serve for 15-15. The players then exchange points and this could be a very important 30-30. Nadal's serve is solid and he has game point. Del Potro goes long with the return and Nadal converts the break.

DEL POTRO 4-6 2-3 - BREAK - Nadal has the crowd on their feet after chasing down lost cause after lost cause to get 0-15. Del Potro responds by dispatching a forehand cross-court winner as if he were swatting a fly. Then booms down a huge first serve for 30-15. A couple of loose shots brings it back to 40-30. Nadal chases down another volley for Deuce. Nadal then secures the break with another example of supreme skill.

DEL POTRO 4-6 2-2- Nadal is ambushed at the start of game four and Del Potro has him at 0-30 before a cute backhand volley at the net gets Nadal back in the game. Del Potro then sends a clean backhand winner down the line to bring up two break points. Nadal saves the first with a serve down the middle. And saves the second after leading Del Potro a merry dance mid-court. Del Potro sends a drop shot into the net and we're all square again.

DEL POTRO 4-6 2-1 - Del Potro is starting to look a touch laboured now. If Nadal gets a sniff this could end very quickly. But Del Potro whips a cross-court forehand winner for 30-15. The Argentine then defends well at the net for 40-30 and a solid serve gives him the game.

DEL POTRO 4-6 1-1 - Nadal returns in kind and despite a brief Del Potro rally to bring it back to 40-30 Nadal opens up his account in this set.

DEL POTRO 4-6 1-0 - Del Potro gets us underway. And he shows no mercy and thunders to an easy hold.

DEL POTRO 4-6 - SET - Nadal serves for the first set. Del Potro proves he's in no mood to lie down and battles to 0-15. A sensational return brings Del Potro to 0-30. But he goes for one big shot too many and pushes a drive down the line wide to give Nadal 15-30 and then Nadal smashes for 30-30. And then volleys for 40-30 and set point. And he seals a remarkable turnaround to take the first set.

DEL POTRO 4-5 - Nadal brings out the party piece and flays a winner from five feet wide of the sideline to go 0-15 who then bosses Del Potro for 0-30. Del Potro then panics and sends a forehand wide to give Nadal break point. The number one seed makes no mistake and goes from 4-1 down to lead.

DEL POTRO 4-4 - Nadal looks more assured and moves to 30-0 without any problem. But Del Potro responds with a delicious drive to Nadal's forehand which has has too much heat on it. Nadal then serves out wide for 40-15. Del Potro's inside-out forehand goes wide and Nadal completes the break-back.

DEL POTRO 4-3 - BREAK - Del Potro challenges a Nadal return but the Spaniard's return is called good. The big man then returns fire for 15-15. Nadal then nails a cross-court forehand down the line before Del Potro replies with an ace for 30-30. But he goes hard at a return from the baseline and it flys off the frame to give Rafa a break point who converts.

DEL POTRO 4-2 - Nadal starts well and races to 30-0 and then 40-15 before Del Potro lazyily misses with a return and Nadal holds.

DEL POTRO 4-1 - Nadal starts to move through the gears and delivers a beautful cross-court volley that Del Potro fails to run down for 15-15 but Del Potro can rely on Nadal's forehand to let him down for 30-15. Rafa then steers a backhand half-volley into the net for 40-15 then goes for a gutsy backhand cross-court pass but it drifts wide to give Del Potro a three-game lead again.

DEL POTRO 3-1 - Nadal manages to serve and hit the net cord three consecutive times before finally managing to make Del Potro's service box. Who then finds the net himself. Nadal follows up with a winning forehand for 40-15. He then flashes another forehand down the line to get on the board.

DEL POTRO 3-0 - Del Potro looks in total control even at this early stage and Nadal still can't get that forehand working. An inside-out forehand from Nadal disappears out of court for 30-15. This is followed by a fourth forehand in-a-row that misses the sideline for 40-15. Nadal then finds the net and Del Potro is away and flying.

DEL POTRO 2-0 - BREAK - Nadal gets underway in unconvincing fashion. A lapse with a forehand hands Del Potro a sniff at 15-30 but his first ace brings up 30-30. Another mistake from Rafa brings up break point which Del Potro is gifted by another forehand that goes long.
