Top seed Dominik Hrbaty of the Slovak Republic struggled past Spaniard Alex Calatrava 5-7 6-4 6-4 in the second round of Casablanca on Tuesday, but improved his record for the year to 22-10. In one outstanding first round match Frenchman Julien Benneteau

Benneteau's compatriot, third seed Antony Dupuis, was pushed by Spaniard Albert Portas but eventually won the match 7-6 (7-4) 7-6 (7-2) to reach his second quarterfinal of the year.

Spain's Oscar Hernandez beat Juan-Pablo Guzman 6-4 1-6 7-6, while Belgian Christophe Rochus had an easy time beating fifth seed Cyril Saulnier 6-0 6-3.

Rochus will face Dupuis in his attempt to reach the semi-finals.
