DJOKOVIC 6-1 6-4 6-2 CHARDY - Game, Set and Match Novak Djokovic! As the brollies begin to pop up around the Philippe Chatrier court, Djokovic gets the job done. The Serb was effective today but Chardy did little to really test him and aided his own downfall with a high unforced error count.
DJOKOVIC 6-1 6-4 5-2 CHARDY - As a few drops of rain start to fall, Djokovic is keen to wrap the match up swiftly. Chardy, though, has other ideas and digs in to hold to 30 and force Djokovic to go down the other end to serve it out.
DJOKOVIC 6-1 6-4 5-1 CHARDY - Chardy is playing for pride here and with nothing to lose, comes up with two forehand winners to stay with Djokovic at 30-30. Two misses, though, mean that he'll have to serve to stay in the match.

DJOKOVIC 6-1 6-4 4-1 CHARDY - It's a double break in the third set. At 0-30 Chardy rips a forehand and puts away the ensuing backhand volley but then a sees a big serve returned with twice as much venom to bring up break points. He saves those break points with some nice hitting but an inexplicable wide forehand gives Djokovic advantage, and the Serb breaks with another simple passing shot.
DJOKOVIC 6-1 6-4 3-1 CHARDY - Djokovic is off balance and nets a forehand at 15-0, but finds the baseline with a forehand volley at 15-15. At 40-15 a wild Chardy return gives the Serb a 3-1 lead in the third set.

DJOKOVIC 6-1 6-4 2-1 CHARDY - Another break of serve and once again Chardy cannot back up his break. A huge, primal roar of frustration from Djokovic as he sends a forehand long at 0-30. Every other point he plays in the game, though, is perect, with a winning passing shot, volley and baseline forehand putting him back in the driving seat in this set.

DJOKOVIC 6-1 6-4 1-1 CHARDY - Chardy breaks straight back! He comes out swinging and is noticeably more aggressive, coming up with some huge forehands to break from 30-30.

DJOKOVIC 6-1 6-4 1-0 CHARDY - A frustrating game for Chardy, who can't seem to find any consistency. Djokovic is winning 70% of points on Chardy's 2nd serve, which doesn't bode well for the Frenchman.

Djokovic is cruising and Chardy is doing much of the work for him with 24 unforced errors (compared to Djokovic's 10). Chardy has shown glimpses of promise but it's hard to see this set being anything other than a formality.

DJOKOVIC 6-1 6-4 CHARDY - Djokovic has no trouble serving out the set and now has what you'd think is an unassailable two sets lead.
DJOKOVIC 6-1 5-4 CHARDY - Chardy holds serve. At 15-0 he makes the mistake of coming in behind a half-baked approach shot and is duly picked off. At 15-15 the Frenchman finds the line with a crosscourt forehand and puts the next shot away down the line. On the next point, though, he gets confused by the trajectory of the ball and can't sort his feet out to play a shot. Djokovic takes him to deuce but Chardy comes up with a couple of big serves to force the Serb to serve the set out.
DJOKOVIC 6-1 5-3 CHARDY - Djokovic with the simplest of holds there. 3 unforced errors from Chardy mean the Serb doesn't have to break sweat and that's rather the story of the match so far.
DJOKOVIC 6-1 4-3 CHARDY - Chardy limits the damage to just the single break of serve but not without a couple of unforced errors along the way. A powerful second serve catches Djokovic off guard and gives Chardy 40-15 but the Frenchman dumps a simple forehand into the net to make it deuce. An inside out forehand winner and an unreturnable serve get him across the line.
DJOKOVIC 6-1 4-2 CHARDY - After three successive breaks of serve we have three successive love service games. Djokovic ticked that one off with ease, even serving and volleying at 40-0, with a lovely backhand volley that span cruelly away from Chardy.
DJOKOVIC 6-1 3-2 CHARDY - Intelligent play from Chardy, who himself now enjoys a love service game. A sumptuous drop-shot, baseline shots that got Djokovic on the run, and an ace to wrap up the game - that's more like it from the Frenchman.

DJOKOVIC 6-1 3-1 CHARDY - Djokovic isn't as sloppy as he was in his previous service game and comes up with some commanding tennis to hold to love. He got himself on top early in every point in that game, hitting winners from the baseline and closing points out from the net.

DJOKOVIC 6-1 2-1 CHARDY - A third successive break of serve. Having got himself back on terms, Chardy needed a solid game there to try and build his way into the 2nd set. A couple of sloppy unforced errors, though, along with a double fault on break point hand the advantage back to Djokovic.

DJOKOVIC 6-1 1-1 CHARDY - Chardy breaks straight back! A great game from the Frenchman as he shows some intent, hammers down a drive volley and forces Djokovic into some errors that throw up two break points. He can't convert the first, but on the second he gets on top before a wild shank, which fortuitosly drops in the court out of Djokovic's reach.

DJOKOVIC 6-1 1-0 CHARDY - Chardy can't hold his serve in the opening game of the 2nd set. 40-30 wasn't a good time to throw in his 2nd double fault of the match and after that a combination of first serve faults and unforced errors do the damage.
Chardy doesn't look like much of a match for Djokovic, and the Serb hasn't yet started to move through the gears. He needs to get a foothold in this second set and focus on holding his serve.
