GAME, SET AND MATCH! - NISHIKORI 4-6 2-6 6-4 2-6 GASQUET. France's last man standing is through in straight sets! The ninth seed ousts the fifth in two hours and 34 minutes. He serves it out in style and fittingly it is the backhand down the line that concludes it to love. It's a thoroughly deserved win and he will now meet Murray in the last eight.

NISHIKORI 4-6 2-6 6-4 2-5 GASQUET. Kei asks the serve out question of Gasquet. Will the Frenchman hold his nerve to reach a first ever last eight place at Roland Garros and a meeting with Britain's Andy Murray?

NISHIKORI 4-6 2-6 6-4 1-5 GASQUET. A mid-game change of racket at 30-0 for Kei seems to do the trick initially. He battles back from 40-0 down to deuce but Gasquet digs in and comes through a massive game for him. He's one away now. Kei serving to stay in it.

BREAK! - NISHIKORI 4-6 2-6 6-4 1-4 GASQUET. Nishikori has a shocker and it's within touching distance for Gasquet. The Frenchman doesn't have to do too much on BP as Kei tightens up and thrashes a crosscourt attempt into the net. It's a double break and the finish line is ever so close for Gasquet.

NISHIKORI 4-6 2-6 6-4 1-3 GASQUET. The crowd get behind Richard between points and it gives him the energy to keep his advantage with a game to 30.

NISHIKORI 4-6 2-6 6-4 1-2 GASQUET. The Japanese gets on the board with a solid service game for the loss of one point. What can he do to regain the buzz and feeling of momentum that he had cruelly quashed right at the start of this set.
-
NISHIKORI 4-6 2-6 6-4 0-2 GASQUET. The ninth seed consolidates to 15 to huge roarrs from the crowd. The backhand does the key damage once more. Kei has had no answer to it. Few players do when Gasquet is on song. It's just consistency and mentality that often hamper him.

BREAK! - NISHIKORI 4-6 2-6 6-4 0-1 GASQUET. What a response from the man Brad Gilbert affectionately calls Dicky! The backhand does the damage again to force a first BP. Kei's serve and volley combo staves it off, but he can't halt the Gasquet charge this time and the Frenchman combines probing offensive play off both flanks to make the early breakthrough.

SET! - NISHIKORI 4-6 2-6 6-4 GASQUET. Kei is back in it! The Japanese hits back as we approach the two-hour mark. A lovely forehand winner down the line tees up two set points and he secures a crucial break on the second with a controlled backhand pass that Gasquet can only prod into the net. Gasquet still leads 2-1 but the momentum could well have shifted now. Don't rule out this going to a decider.

NISHIKORI 4-6 2-6 5-4 GASQUET. Kei almost buckles but hits back from 0-30 to deny Gasquet any BPs and edge in front form deuce. Pressure on the Frenchman now. If he drops serve here, Kei will reduce the arrears.
-
NISHIKORI 4-6 2-6 4-4 GASQUET. Richard is in the zone. He doesn't want to let this slip now. Psychologically, dropping this set would be huge. Many inside Chatrier will be convinced he needs to win this in three...

NISHIKORI 4-6 2-6 4-3 GASQUET. Kei has got some decent momentum on his serve and is enjoying some easier games. This set is so finely poised. Gasquet favourite to meet Murray in the last eight, but it's not certain yet. Kei still has a say here.
-
NISHIKORI 4-6 2-6 3-3 GASQUET. Gasquet pulls level again, dropping just the one point on serve. He's still pulling off some supreme shots. Can he make a breakthrough now and move within range of victory?
-
NISHIKORI 4-6 2-6 3-2 GASQUET. Kei holds with the minimum of fuss. It was over in the blink of an eye and the heat is back on Gasquet who will be desperate to gain the edge in this third set. The pendulum could yet swing...

NISHIKORI 4-6 2-6 2-2 GASQUET. Kei gets a sniff of an opening at 0-30 but can't turn the screw enough. Gasquet reels off three points in a row and eventually holds from deuce. The purple patch appears to be over but he's still in control.
