What a brilliant match that was - terrific tennis from both players, but Murray was supreme to dispatch the defending champion. Looking forward to a marvellous final on Sunday.

Eurosport pundit Greg Rusedski describes Murray's fourth set as "herculean".

After some autographs and selfies with fans, Murray heads off court. He has a little while to rest now - and prepare for the challenge of Novak Djokovic. Again.

"I'm extremely proud. I never expected to reach the final here," he says. "I hope I can put on a good match for all of the crowd on Sunday."

"I knew today if I wanted to win, I was going to have to play one of my best matches," says Murray. "I'm looking forward to the final now."

Murray beams as he throws his sweatbands into the crowd. His team smile back at him, and the crowd do applaud him, at least. Wawrinka looks weary as they shake hands.

Wawrinka 4-6 2-6 6-4 2-6 Murray: Marvellous. Simple brilliance from Andy Murray, who has served exceptionally well, defended wonderfully, and ignored a hugely partisan crowd to secure his place in the French Open Final.

The trainer nips on to court for a chat with Wawrinka, but there's no treatment.

Wawrinka 4-6 2-6 6-4 2-3 Murray: A really casual hold to love for the defending champion, an absolute breeze. Murray still has that break advantage.

Wawrinka 4-6 2-6 6-4 1-3 Murray: Andy Murray's serve is absolutely blasting Wawrinka away on the other side of the net.

Wawrinka 4-6 2-6 6-4 1-2 Murray: A hold for Wawrinka, but Murray's right there with him, incorporating a backhand then a lob of such magnificence it's almost unbelievable.

Wawrinka 4-6 2-6 6-4 0-2 Murray: Wawrinka's backhand, usually so reliable, lets him down a little here - it's a good and hardworking hold for Murray. He's muttering to himself: "Don't rush the point."

Wawrinka 4-6 2-6 6-4 0-1 Murray: Andy Murray breaks RIGHT at the start of the fourth, much to the horror of the crowd. An error on the Wawrinka forehand gives him a quick advantage.

Wawrinka 4-6 2-6 6-4 Murray: Murray takes his eye off the literal and metaphorical ball, and shouts in frustration as he concedes set point. Wawrinka gets his first break of the game - and gets one set back.
