2015 French Open champion Stanislas Wawrinka was in imperious form as he dismantled Marin Cilic 6-3 6-3 6-1 to book a semi-final meeting with Andy Murray at Roland Garros.
It will be Wawrinka's ninth appearance in a Grand Slam semi-final and his third straight appearance in the last four in Paris as he remains on course for a fourth major following his French Open, 2014 Australian Open and 2016 US Open successes.
He will face Murray on Friday in a repeat of last year's semi-final which Murray won in four sets after the world number one Scotsman overcome Kei Nishikori 2-6 6-1 7-6 6-1 in the remaining men's quarter-final.
At the age of 32, third seed Wawrinka is the oldest man to reach the last four since Jimmy Connors lost to Ivan Lendl in 1985.
Croatian Cilic made 32 unforced errors, almost double his Swiss opponent's total, in tumbling rather tamely out of the tournament in only one hour and 40 minutes.
