Hello and welcome to live updates of the 2019 French Open third round clash between 11-time champion, Rafael Nadal and Belgium's David Goffin.

GAME, SET AND MATCH! - NADAL 6-1 6-3 4-6 6-3 GOFFIN. The reigning champion prevails as he serves it out to 15 after two hours and 49 minutes. Goffin was blown away early on, but made a real fight of it in the third set before Rafa edged back in control. Nadal will now meet Londero or Moutet in round four.

NADAL 6-1 6-3 4-6 5-3 GOFFIN. La Goff keeps Rafa honest and poses the serve-out question with a hold to 15. Over to the King of Clay now.

NADAL 6-1 6-3 4-6 5-2 GOFFIN. The defending champion moves to within one game of the fourth round. Some wonderful net coverage sees him volley his way into a commanding position and he goes on to easily hold to 15.

NADAL 6-1 6-3 4-6 4-2 GOFFIN. La Goff stays in contention. The Belgian wins one of the rallies of the match with a scorching forehand winner for 30-0 but is then pegged back as Nadal unloads one of his trademark specials to the postage stamp. Goffin stays calm and serves big to force the errors out of the No.2 seed to take the game.

NADAL 6-1 6-3 4-6 4-1 GOFFIN. Rafa is made to work hard to consolidate. A fifth double fault of the match at 30-0 up gives Goffin some hope. The Belgian presses to deuce with a drop shot-volley combo, but can't unnerve the Spaniard. A battle of backhands ends with the No.27 seed fizzing long.

BREAK! - NADAL 6-1 6-3 4-6 3-1 GOFFIN. Nadal comes out with real intent and works his way to two break points with some lovely angle on a fizzing return. Goffin finds a big serve to save one but then flashes long. The King of Clay roars in delight.

NADAL 6-1 6-3 4-6 2-1 GOFFIN. Rafa taking the shift from total dominance to facing a fight in his stride it seems. He eases to a hold to 15 to keep his nose in front early in Set 4.

NADAL 6-1 6-3 4-6 1-1 GOFFIN. Rafa is desperately trying to reassert his authority here, but Goffin simply isn't allowing it. The Belgian is continuing to lick the liens with some lovely shot-making. He outfoxes Nadal at the net to hold to 30 and get on the board.

NADAL 6-1 6-3 4-6 1-0 GOFFIN. All is not well with Nadal. He's definitely lost some focus here. He lets a 40-0 lead slip as a fourth double fault of the match begins a wobble towards deuce. The Spaniard finds two big serves to get him out of dodge, but Goffin will take further positives from that.

Ten years to the day... Still a huge amount of work for Goffin to do to seriously suggest he can mark this anniversary with one of the biggest shocks of recent tennis times.

SET! - NADAL 6-1 6-3 4-6 GOFFIN. Match on? Goffin shrugs off a double fault as he corks another forehand winner and benefits from a backhand error from the King of Clay to serve out the third set. The Belgian was flying in those last few games after slowly working his way into the contest.

BREAK! - NADAL 6-1 6-3 4-5 GOFFIN. La Goff finally arrives! The Belgian unloads the forehand and snares his first break points of the match. Nadal survives one but can only watch on as another howitzer of a forehand flashes beyond him. Goffin will now serve for the third set.

NADAL 6-1 6-3 4-4 GOFFIN. Wow. Goffin seems to be getting stronger. He rampages through a love hold to level once more.

NADAL 6-1 6-3 4-3 GOFFIN. Nadal still not offering Goffin much to bite on. The King of Clay holds to love and will be keen to step it up now with the business end of this set upon us.

NADAL 6-1 6-3 3-3 GOFFIN. La Goff is seeing the ball well now. He corks a trio of quite brilliant forehand winners to take his overall tally into double figures in this set. He managed just seven in the previous two.

NADAL 6-1 6-3 3-2 GOFFIN. David is certainly more of a threat now, but he's still struggling to make an impact on the Nadal serve. The Spaniard holds to 15 as La Goff picks up a drop shot but guides it just wide down the line.

NADAL 6-1 6-3 2-2 GOFFIN. All square. Goffin is getting some joy now. Nadal seems to be going into energy-conservation mode. Is that a dangerous game without the break in the third?

NADAL 6-1 6-3 2-1 GOFFIN. Solid as a rock. The world number two remains very business-like as he eases to a hold to 15.
