GAME, SET AND MATCH! - BACSINSZKY 6-7 6-3 3-6 OSTAPENKO. Jelena Ostapenko becomes the first Latvian to reach Grand Slam final after an epic victory over the No.30 seed. The world number 47 lashes a crosscourt winner on her second match point to break again and secure a fairytale success in two hours and 25 minutes. She's the first first unseeded player to reach the French Open final since 1983 as her power proved too much for Bacsinszky, who fought hard to stay in it for long periods. Ostapenko will now meet either Pliskova or Halep in Saturday's final. hat a way to celebrate your 20th birthday!

BACSINSZKY 6-7 6-3 3-5 OSTAPENKO. A huge, huge hold for the 20-year-old hopeful. Bacsinszky has hung on by playing safe - but she hits too loosely throughout this one, lobbing way long in the final rally to hand Ostapenko a love hold. The world no. 47 is one game away from the final...

BREAK! - BACSINSZKY 6-7 6-3 3-4 OSTAPENKO. A sweeping forehand winner seals yet another break as Jelena bounces back, pouncing on the nervy serving of Bacsinszky to snatch the initiative once more. You'd usually expect the Latvian starlet to go on and win it from here, but this has not been your average match. There could yet be more twists and turns ahead!

BREAK! - BACSINSZKY 6-7 6-3 3-3 OSTAPENKO. Jelena clearly gutted. She was a point away from 4-1 and a double break - but now it's all square. A third ace of the match put the Latvian 30-15 up, but Timea's defence keeps asking her to play one more shot and it proves costly. At 30-40 the Swiss springs forward with a raking crosscourt backhand and it proves too hot to handle.

BACSINSZKY 6-7 6-3 2-3 OSTAPENKO. Timea is still in there fighting - just! The Swiss comes under fire but stays in touch with a hold from deuce. If Ostapenko tightens up or suffers another error-strewn lull, she will be ready to pounce.
VIDEO: Watch how Jelena Ostapenko holds her nerve to win the first-set tiebreak.
It's like a mini battle between good Ostapenko and bad Ostapenko.
BACSINSZKY 6-7 6-3 1-3 OSTAPENKO. It's never dull with Ostapenko. She really is a star in the making. The Latvian battles back from 15-30 and then rows with the chair umpire over a forehand into the tramlines that would have sealed it. She struggles to finish it off from deuce before finally getting it done at the sixth time of asking. It's the longest game of the match lasting over eight minutes and could be one of the most significant as the Latvian consolidates.

BREAK! - BACSINSZKY 6-7 6-3 1-2 OSTAPENKO. 'C'mon!!!!' That is the cry of delight from Ostapenko as she lifts herself once more to scythe through the Bacsinszky serve once again. How much would she love to dig out a big hold right now?
Indeed.

BREAK! - BACSINSZKY 6-7 6-3 1-1 OSTAPENKO. If more consistency comes with experience, Ostapenko is going to be some player. Unfortunately it's not one of her assets right now. From the sublime to the sloppy, she drops serve to love. Timea breaks right back and this match remains too tough to call.

BREAK! - BACSINSZKY 6-7 6-3 0-1 OSTAPENKO. A wonderful response from the 20-year-old starlet. The forehand wand begins to paint the lines once more and Bacsinszky can't find the defence this time around.
Can Ostapenko channel her emotions back in the right direction? The decider is about to get underway with Bacsinszky to serve...
