BREAK! - GARCIA 2-6 3-5 KERBER. This was almost inevitable. Kerber tightens up after missing her chances, while Garcia feels better about the scoreline and starts to play more freely. She breaks to 15 and is belatedly making a contest of this.

GARCIA 2-6 2-5 KERBER. Garcia is just about still in this. She lets a 40-0 lead slip and then faces four match points from deuce. The net cord saves her twice in an epic game and she finally poses the serve-out question.
GARCIA 2-6 1-5 KERBER. Super from Kerber. She shows great defence to deny Garcia when it seems the home favourite has the point in the bag. It's been that kind of day for the No.7 seed. Kerber is one game away from the last eight.

BREAK! - GARCIA 2-6 1-4 KERBER. That's magnificent. Garcia throws everything into a forehand that clips the baseline, but Kerber sticks out a racket on the stretch and somehow guides a crosscourt pass beyond the No.7 seed. It sees the German break to love and it's a long way back for Caroline from here.

GARCIA 2-6 1-2 KERBER. Garcia roars as she vents sheer frustration. It comes after she hammers a forehand crosscourt winner to claim a love hold. She needed that badly.
GARCIA 2-6 0-2 KERBER. It's too easy. Garcia tanks a backhand return into the net and Kerber consolidates with a game to 15.

BREAK! - GARCIA 2-6 0-1 KERBER. Garcia can't get Set 2 off to a fresh start as she immediately finds herself 0-40 down. She saves one with a crisp volley but then corks a crosscourt forehand just wide of the line. Kerber firmly in charge.

SET! - GARCIA 2-6 KERBER. The No.12 seed takes the opener in a rather quick 26 minutes. Garcia was poor early on but there are signs she could still make a fight of this.
GARCIA 2-5 KERBER. Much better from CG. She poses the serve-out question as each of her points get greeted by huge cheers of approval by the French crowd.
GARCIA 1-5 KERBER. Angie backs up the double break with a thumping love hold. It's one-way traffic right now. When will Garcia join the party?

BREAK! - GARCIA 1-4 KERBER. The former world No.1 is looking so assured out there. She misses a gorgeous dropshot by a whisker at 15-30, but keeps applying the pressure and gets her reward with the double break when Garcia hooks well wide of the German's left flank.
GARCIA 1-3 KERBER. Angie keeping her nose in front with some excellent serving so far. Garcia still settling into this.
GARCIA 1-2 KERBER. The No.7 seed will feel a lot better now. Some early nerves were evident there, but she's on the board.
GARCIA 0-2 KERBER. The German consolidates with a much more composed opening service game.
