Bertens' retirement means that Konta will now face Kuzmova in the third round of the French Open. The draw has really opened up in Konta's quarter. This is a big chance for her to go deep in the tournament!

GAME, SET, MATCH KONTA! Davis had two break points on the Konta serve, but this time the British number one finds some strong hitting from the baseline and grinds down the American. Into the third round Konta goes! 6-3, 1-6, 6-3.

Another momentum shift? Davis is still fighting her and now the pendulum seems to have swung back the other way. This is a huge game coming up. Konta has a second chance to serve for the set.

Still not over! Davis takes the third of three break points brought up against the Konta serve and this one is still not over. Konta still has work to do if she is to make the third round.

Konta to serve for it! That was admirable fight from Davis, who faced a break point, but upped her own aggression levels to get out of trouble. Konta wll now serve for a place in the third round at 5-1.

One game away! Davis brought up 0-30 on the Konta serve as the Brit looked to be wobbling, but excellent fight sees four points in a row go the way of the 26 seed. Davis will serve to stay in the match.

Double break! Konta is stepping in on the Davis serve and is getting her rewards. She has been more aggressive in this third set and now has a 4-0 and double break lead. On the verge of the third round!

Momentum swing! Davis is now missing the shots that she was making in the second set and Konta holds to love for a 3-0 lead in this third and final set out on the Bullring court.

Konta breaks! You got the feeling there was an opportunity for the 26th seed there. Konta was trying to make the break happen, but in the end Davis gives her a bit of a gift with a wild shot on break point. 6-3, 1-6, 2-0.

DAVIS TAKES THE SECOND SET! The American wins the second set 6-1 in under half an hour and this second round match will go to a decider. Konta has allowed her level to drop dramatically.

Konta holds! The British number one finally gets on the board in this second set with an ace down the T, but it might be too little too late. Davis will serve to level up the match.

5-0 in the second set! Konta will serve to stay in the second set, although in truth this set might already be over. This has been quite the collapse since she clinched that first set.

Double break! Oh dear. This isn't good for Konta. This second set has run away from her and all of a sudden Davis has opened up a 4-0 lead. Some really slack play from the British number one, although Davis has also upped things.

Davis holds! The American has consolidated the break and has raced to a 3-0 lead in this second set. Konta needs to step in on Davis' second serve. There's an opportunity there.

Davis breaks! As so often happens after the spurning of break point opportunities, Konta has now been broken herself! The American holds a 2-0 lead at the start of this second set. She's a good mover, but Konta needs to do more on Davis' second serve. Davis to serve now.

Break points saved! Konta had two opportunities to break early at the start of the second set, but Davis scraps hard and the British number one sends a backhand long of the baseline on game point. 1-0.

Some news from Philippe-Chatrier... so Bertens, who was the favourite to meet the winner of this match in the third round, has been forced to retire against Kuzmova through illness. Such a shame!

KONTA WINS THE FIRST SET! The British number one had to fight for that set and that final game facing a break point against Davis, but closes out and edges ahead in this second round. 6-3.
