Hello and welcome to live updates of the 2019 French Open third round clash between No.2 seed Karolina Pliskova and Croatia's Petra Martic (31). The players are due on Chatrier imminently. Pliskova came into this tournament on the back of winning the Italian Open at the expense of Britain's Johanna Konta.

GAME, SET AND MATCH! - PLISKOVA 3-6 3-6 MARTIC. She's done it! Martic secures a major shock as she sinks the No.2 seed after an enthralling one hour and 25 minute battle. The nerves at both ends of the court were palpable, but the Croatian managed to get it together in the end, saving three break back points before clinching a place in round four with an ace.

BREAK! - PLISKOVA 3-6 3-5 MARTIC. That could be HUGE for Martic. The Croatian gets under Pliskova's skin once again. The No.2 seed lets out a huge roar when she makes 40-30, but then shows real nerves when she's pegged back at deuce. A miss on a simple overhead and a double fault offer up two break chances that Martic can't take. But when a third comes via another double fault, the No.31 seed finally makes it count. She will now serve for the match.

PLISKOVA 3-6 3-4 MARTIC. The twists and turns in this second set have been quite fascinating as the two different styles of play collide. Martic gains the upper hand on this occasions, rallying to pull off the hold after a delightful drop shot had dug her out of a hole at 15-30 down.

BREAK! - PLISKOVA 3-6 3-3 MARTIC. Just when it looked like Martic was suffering mentally, she comes roaring back. The defensive slice begins to work a treat against Pliskova's desire to hammer the forehand. The Czech suddenly finds herself triple break point down and another error off the backhand wing allows the No.31 seed to level at her second opportunity.

BREAK! - PLISKOVA 3-6 3-2 MARTIC. Too good. Pliskova claims anther break at the third time of asking in a game where she bombarded the Martic defence. The No.31 seed was clearly flustered and despite some fine recovery at times, she just couldn't deny Pliskova, who has clearly wrestled the momentum back her way at this point.

PLISKOVA 3-6 2-2 MARTIC. Pliskova restores parity, but she does it the hard way. The No.2 seed is made to save three break points, but that thunderous forehand manages to drag her through a testing game.

BREAK! - PLISKOVA 3-6 1-2 MARTIC. Kaja stops the rot at six games - and how she needed it! Martic can only watch on as the Czech lashes winners off either flank to claim triple break point. The Croatian produces a big first serve to snatch one back, but then opts for a timid drop shot that dumps into the net to hand her opponent the immediate break back.

BREAK! - PLISKOVA 3-6 0-2 MARTIC. The alarm bells are ringing for Pliskova. The Czech is usually so cool, but she clearly looks threatened. The errors are leaking of her racket at the moment and a big miss on the overhead offers up two break points. Martic takes full advantage as she anticipates a drop shot to calmly win the game.

PLISKOVA 3-6 0-1 MARTIC. Petra is in the zone right now. She keeps her foot on the metal and makes it five games in a row to grab the scoreboard advantage with a convincing hold to 15.

SET! - PLISKOVA 3-6 MARTIC. The number two seed is in trouble! Once again she allows a commanding lead on serve to flitter away and is forced to produce a sensational baseline drop-shot to make deuce. Martic continues to frustrate the Czech and gets her reward when Pliskova lashes a backhand just long on the Croatian's second set point. It's 38 minutes in and we are beginning to see why Martic has a good head to head record against the Italian Open champion.

PLISKOVA 3-5 MARTIC. Petra threatens to undo her own good work with a pair of double faults, but finds her rhythm in time to come through and consolidate.

BREAK! - PLISKOVA 3-4 MARTIC. That's brilliant from Martic. She looks dead and buried at 40-0 but takes advantage of some surprising misfires from Pliskova to make it interesting. A sublime dropshot takes her to deuce and from there the No.31 seed's steady approach pays dividends. The second seed's frustration is clear and it eats into her swing as she dumps a powerful forehand into the net to cough up the break.

PLISKOVA 3-3 MARTIC. Petra is doing a fine job going toe to toe with Pliskova so far. The Czech has hit very big at times, but Martic is finding enough first serves to keep it tight and work her way into the encounter.
