Bertens appeared to be suffering from illness rather than injury. She told the trainer "I have no power. I'm shaking like hell." That's a great shame for such a great player. Hope she feels better soon.

BERTENS RETIRES! Such a shame for the number four seed who has had to retire early on in this opening set. Kuzmova was 3-1 up and will move into the third round. Bertens was a popular pick for a lot of people to win the whole thing!

Injury trouble? This is a concern. Bertens has asked for the trainer and doesn't look happy at all. She was 3-1, 40-15 down when she stopped.
