World number two Roger Federer takes on Russia's Nikolay Davydenko in the final of the Qatar Open in Doha.

So in 79 minutes, Federer has taken the Qatar Open with a 6-3 6-4 win over Davydenko and with it his third title in Doha - what a performance from the Swiss! Thanks for joining us.

FEDERER WINS THE QATAR OPEN! The Swiss hurls his sweatbands into the crowd in celebration as he clinches a straight-sets victory in Doha - it's been a convincing performance from the world number two, and Davydenko has been well and truly outclassed!

BREAK! Federer slams a tame second serve from Davydenko down the line with consummate ease to clinch what should prove to be the crucial break in this second set! The Swiss only has to hold his serve now to seal victory in Doha against the defending champion...

Federer, in stark contrast to Davydenko in the previous game, does not offer anything in the way of a celebration as he holds at 4-4, simply throwing the balls in his hand away after crushing two forehand winners to wrap up the game. This set could go either way and is now intriguingly poised!

The Russian is very fired up in this second set (well, in relative terms) and he clenches his fist after holding with a superb first serve to hold at 4-3. What can he do on Federer's serve now?

Federer comes in court to bludgeon two emphatic forehand winners down the line, and the Swiss is having no problems keeping on terms in this second set - when will he make his move?

Davydenko is working incredibly hard to keep himself on terms, despite Federer battling for every point. The Russian holds to 30, and he's ahead at 3-2 in this second set.

It's all too easy for the Swiss as he levels at 2-2 with a flurry of exquisite ground strokes, and he closes out the game with a very fine sliced serve outwide.

Federer is unable to force the initiative in this second set thus far as Davydenko fires two stunning forehand winners cross court to keep his nose in front.

Federer hits straight back with a composed hold and the Russian, for all his tireless hard work from the back of the court, cannot force an early advantage. Can Fed break now?

Davydenko begins the second set with two very sluggish points, but recovers superbly to serve out for his opening service game and establish himself from the outset.

Elsewhere, top seed Robin Soderling will meet defending champion Andy Roddick in the final of the Brisbane International after repelling a fightback from former title holder Radek Stepanek 6-3 7-5.

SET FEDERER! The number two seed wraps up the opening set with an efficient and uncompromising service hold, and Davydenko throws his arms up in frustration as he slips behind in this Doha final.

Federer forces five set points as Davydenko is forced to battle extremely hard to remain in the opening set, and a ferocious cross-court forehand sees the Russian change the momentum in his favour, and he closes out an epic game with forehand down the line - phew!

Davydenko needs to find something very special if he is to prevent Federer from taking this opening set, and the Swiss completes another service hold with efficiency and conviction to move one game shy of taking it.

Davydenko has suddenly found some rhythm on his first serve as he wins two cheap points, then outwits his opponent with a crisp forehand cross court to seal the game.

Federer is unerring as he holds to 15 with ease, and the Swiss finds another three piercing first serves which beat Davydenko as he lunges around behind the baseline to no avail.

Finally, at the second time of asking, Davydenko gets on the board, but it is not plain sailing for the Russian as Federer continues to play with a great deal of intensity and conviction.

Federer consolidates his early break with another comfortable service hold, and Davydenko has not been allowed to settle at all in this first set in Doha.
