NADAL 6-2 6-3 6-1 - GAME, SET & MATCH! Nadal brings up three match points when his forehand catches the top of the tape and bounces up and over the racquet of Wawrinka for a passing shot winner. He only needs the one chance to serve out the set though as Wawrinka goes long with a forehand return of serve.
-
NADAL 6-2 6-3 5-1 - Great play from Wawrinka as he brings up game points with an inside-out forehand winner across court before sealing the game with an ace. The Swiss player avoids the ignominy of a bagel set but Nadal will serve for the match next.

NADAL 6-2 6-3 4-0 - BREAK! An absolutely sensational backhand winner down the line from Nadal, the Spaniard using all his core strength to batter that ball down the line with very little backswing. NADAL 6-2 6-3 - SET! Wawrinka fails to take advantage of a game point and instead hits long to hand Nadal a point to seal this second set. It doesn't take much though, Wawrinka netting a forehand, which he plays whilst backing away from the court. Nadal is two sets to the good now.
-
NADAL 6-2 5-3 - Another hold goes the way of Nadal without too much trouble. He's not going to make the same mistake as he did in his last service game. And the Swiss ninth seed will have to serve to stay in this second set.

NADAL 6-2 4-3 - BREAK! Nadal was furious with himself after relinquishing his break advantage and skips around to court to produce a forehand winner and bring up two more break points. Only one is needed though, Nadal recovering from being taken wide on the backhand side up at the net to race across the net and whip a forehand passing shot winner down the line.

NADAL 6-2 3-3 - BREAK! A huge scream from Wawrinka as he brings up his first two break points with a forehand winner after running round the line. The first goes begging when he goes wide with an inside out forehand across court as does the second when the Swiss player sends a forehand long. He earns himself a third chance with a cross court forehand winner but again goes long with a forehand. Btu Wawrinka finally does break at the fourth attempt when Nadal hits long.
-
NADAL 6-2 3-2 - A much better service hold this time around from Wawrinka and he finds a few more service holds and seals the game when Nadal nets a forehand return.
-
NADAL 6-2 3-1 - A perfect drop shot from Nadal, that Wawrinka cannot get up to before the double bounce, seucres the hold that consolidates the break as the clock ticks over to exactly one hour.

NADAL 6-2 2-1 - BREAK! Nadal fails to take advantage of a first break point with a forehand long down the centre of the court. But he does seal it at the second time of asking when Wawrinka completely mis-times and mis-hits a forehand of his own, failing to find the court with the ball.

NADAL 6-2 1-1 - Nadal holds to 30 for his opening game of the second set, a whipped forehand proving too tricky for Wawrinka as the ball dips and spins off the frame of the Swiss players racquet.

NADAL 6-2 - SET! Nadal serves out the set to love with an ace down the centre of the court. Very emphatic opening set from the Spaniard.
-
NADAL 5-2 - Nadal earns himself a set point when Wawrinka hits into the net to end a phenomenal rally from both players. The Swiss player smashes his racquet into the ground, twice, to completely ruin it (earning himself a warning in the process) but it seems to work for him as he saves the set point before going on to hold, eventually, with an ace. Nadal will serve for the set after the change of ends though.
-
NADAL 5-1 - The body serve from Nadal sees Wawrinka's return go astray and helps the defending champion to another comfortable service hold. Wawrinka will have to serve to stay in this opening set next.
