Evans a break up Kei Nishikori is playing Dan Evans on Court 14 and it's a bright start from the Brit who breaks the Japanese in the opening game. It's looking more than a bit blustery out there.

Nishikori smashes a ball away in frustration, which is very rare to see from him, after messing up his second game point with an unforced error. He then hits the ball into the net afare a cleverl Evans lob. After lengthy back-and-forth on deuce, Nishikori wraps it up to extend his lead.

Three break points for Nishikori at 0-40. He hits the first one long in a lengthy rally but he comes to the net second time around and drives it low before Evans hits into the net. Nishikori with the all-important break in this fifth set.

Nishikori holds his service game with Evans looking a bit cautious. It will inevitably get cagey at this stage with so much on the line.

Evans has taken the fourth set after quickly rattling off four straight points in a row. The line judge does a quick inspection of the clay to see whether Evans' winner really was in, and it was. So here we go then - set five decider.

Nishikori is broken by Evans again so the Brit is now serving out for the fourth set. We must surely be heading for a fifth.

Nishikori earns himself a break point but Evans saves it by smashing a forehand down the line. Evans then hits a beautiful backhand which passes the outstretched Nishikori arm on his backhand side. Eventually he takes it to lead 4-1.

Evans is three up after only ten minutes with Nishikori unable to muster a single point in that third game. Things are looking up for the British number one.

A good start from Evans in the fourth with four points in a row. The Brit's second serve has let him down so far but there was no sign of trouble in that opening game.

Momentum was with Nishikori after recovering from a break down and he delivers in the tie-break, taking it 7-3. Nishikori has not lost a five-set match for three years so it's all looking a bit grim for Evans off the back of a gruelling 81-minute set.
