Too good. After an hour and 38 minutes, Djokovic seals a routine victory over Ymer, converting his first match point with a fine forehand.

Ymer grew into the match and broke Djokovic twice, but the Swede was always second best.

With a smattering of supporters, Djokovic does that trademark celebration to every side of Chatrier as the applause rings out.

A game later he holds to love and he's on the brink of a swift first-round win!

The lion has awoken from his slumber, says Simon Reed on commentary. No sign of an issue with his right arm this time as Djokovic breaks with a sumptuous winner into the corner.

A lovely passing shot from Ymer gives him 0-15 on Djokovic’s serve and a few points later another winner makes it 30-40 and break point! He converts it too, bringing it back to 3-3 as Djokovic appears to bend back the fingers on his right hand. Some discomfort? He’s grimacing a bit and now feeling his right forearm. Hmm.

Ymer stays within touching distance in this set but it’s still advantage Djokovic.

Couple of errors as Djokovic is taken to deuce, and Ymer looks annoyed with himself for failing to reach a drop shot that would have brought up break point. Instead it’s Djokovic who wins that point and the next to consolidate his lead.

Just sit back and enjoy this from the second set... Few have hit a better winner against Djokovic. Ever.

Incredible defence from Djokovic and Ymer can barely believe it as he appears to be on top of the point but ends up losing it. That brings up break point, one which Djokovic cannot convert however, and after our first deuce of the match, it’s the Serb who breaks after Ymer finds the net with a disappointing approach shot.

Djokovic with a simple hold to love there and it’s pressure back on Ymer once more. Quick service games at the moment. Still not a single deuce.

Down, but not out. A lovely lob takes Ymer to 40-15 and a couple of points later he takes the opening game of the third set.

So after that slight blip with a break earlier on, Djokovic turns on the style and a tidy little drop shot helps him seal the second set with a hold to love. Just over 45 minutes played.

A quality rally featuring two backhand lobs from Djokovic ends with the Serb taking it and earning two break points. He converts the first as Ymer goes long. Djokovic a game away from a two-set lead.

Djokovic keeps his nose in front in this second set, holding to 30 – we’re yet to see a deuce after 12 games. Has made for a very quick match.

Guess what… another break! Djokovic responds the only way he knows how, converting another break this time at the second time of asking. He leads 3-2 now and you would be surprised if he throws away the advantage again!

Hello… a break back! Got to admire Ymer’s resolve here a set and a break down. He converts his first break point of the match to bring it back on serve in the second.

Normal service resumes for Djokovic in the third game of this second set. Again he is nothing short of ruthless, breaking at the first time of asking and he’s now 4/4 on break points converted.

Already five times the amount of errors from Djokovic in this set as the last one, five to one, but despite a double fault he responds with a hold to 30.

Just what the doctor ordered. A hold to 15 for Ymer who earns the applause from the small crowd on Chatrier, he’s on the board!

Blink and you miss it, really. That’s the first set wrapped up for Djokovic in just 20 minutes. Ten winners from the Serb’s racket, six unforced errors from Ymer, and that is enough for a first-set bagel.

Worth remembering this is just a second French Open for 22-year-old Ymer, and to draw the world No1… it doesn’t get much tougher. It’s another break of serve and a bagel is on the way, Djokovic has converted three from three so far.
