Hello and welcome to LIVE updates of what is quite simply a gargantuan showdown for the men’s 2020 French Open final. The King of Clay, Rafael Nadal goes in search of an unprecedented 13th Roland Garros title and in doing so bids to equal Roger Federer’s record haul of 20 Grand Slams. The Spanish world No.2 meets his old nemesis Novak Djokovic, the man currently ranked as the best player on the planet. The Serb is aiming to become the first man in the Open era to win each major twice and take his own Grand Slam tally to 18. There’s so much at stake in what promises to be another memorable clash between these two superstars of tennis. We are tantalisingly close now, with both players due on Chatrier from 2pm BST.

Nadal on Djokovic: “The only thing I know is to play against Novak, I need to play my best. Without playing my best tennis, situation is very difficult. I know that it is a court that I have been playing well for such a long time, so that helps. But at the same time he has an amazing record here, too, being in the final rounds almost every single time. It is one of the toughest opponents possible.”

Djokovic: “Obviously the conditions are different than the ones that we are used to playing in May and June. I think that could be a better chance for me, obviously the ball not bouncing as high over the shoulder as he likes it usually.”

HEAD-TO-HEAD: This is Rafa v Nole part 56. Djokovic currently leads the match up 29-26 and has won 14 of the last 18 meetings. Nadal has had the edge on clay in the past though with a 17-7 record v the Serbinator.  Indeed, Nadal has triumphed in 6 of their 7  meetings at Roland Garros, including the 2012 and 2014 finals. It's worth pointing out that Djokovic won the most recent meeting when he saw off Rafa in straight sets in the 2015 quarter finals.
