BREAK! – DJOKOVIC 6-3 3-2 BERRETTINI. This is running away from Matteo now. He complicates things from the start and Djokovic pounces to apply some heat. The Italian reaches a lob at 15-30 but hits a tame backhand volley right at Djoker who fires into the open court to get two bites at the break. He needs just the one as Berrettini again goes for broke and fizzes just long.
DJOKOVIC 6-3 2-2 BERRETTINI. It’s been a LONG time since Berrettini got a point on the Serbinator’s serve. It’s machine-like efficiency once more as cruises to another perfect game.
DJOKOVIC 6-3 1-2 BERRETTINI. It’s rarely a routine hold when Nole’s returning to you. Few have the all round power of Matteo but Djoker has a way of absorbing and deflecting it right back your way. He keeps the Serb at bay and pushes the board once more with a game to 30.

DJOKOVIC 6-3 1-1 BERRETTINI. Déjà vu. Berrettini pushes another drop shot long. It’s not a key moment this time though and Nole rockets down a fifth ace to breeze through a love hold.
DJOKOVIC 6-3 0-1 BERRETTINI. Matteo needs a strong start to Set 2 if he’s to reignite his belief. He throws down a double fault to open but then reels off four points in a row to claim the scoreboard advantage.

SET! - DJOKOVIC 6-3 BERRETTINI. The world number one corks down ace number four before steering a forehand into the postage stamp to serve out the opener to love.
DJOKOVIC 5-3 BERRETTINI. Serve-out question posed. Berrettini almost has to win the game twice over from 40-15 after some gorgeous volleying at the net and some devilish low slice from Novak threatened to unravel his opponent.
DJOKOVIC 5-2 BERRETTINI. There’s no doubt Berrettini would like that one back. He reaches Djoker’s drop shot on break point but pushes just long. It’s a huge shame for the Italian as Nole seizes upon the reprieve and it’s clutch from there.
DJOKOVIC 4-2 BERRETTINI. The No.9 seed stays in touch with a hold to 30.
DJOKOVIC 4-1 BERRETTINI. Matteo is having to go for the lines just to hit through Nole. He threatens from deuce without managing to break through the world number one’s elastic defence. It’s gruelling for both players and you can see what the hold means to Djoker as he lets out a huge roar when the Italian slices long.
3-1*
Berrettini goes 30-15 up in his game as he jumps into a return that he slams with a forehand well out of Djokovic's reach. A similarly powerful return forces an error from Djokovic. Berrettini serves for the game, but sends down a first fault. Djokovic is on top in the rally now, and Berrettini hits the net. We're at deuce.
Djokovic claims the advantage, but Berrettini swiftly levels when Djokovic strains to reach a return, sending a looping one that can be dealt with easily before the world number one earns back another break point, and Berrettini sends a volley out to lose his service.
*2-1
At 30-30, Djokovic fires an ace down the middle, and Berrettini and his rival see the umpire come down to check. It remains 30-30, and from his second serve, Djokovic sends a cross-court shot long, giving the Italian the chance to break early. An outstanding ace brings him advantage, and then he wins the game when Berrettini slices a drop shot just out of bounds.
1-1*
Berrettini serves his 43rd ace of the tournament to go into a 40-0 leave. A long return gives Djokovic his first point of the game, but the Serbian then makes the same mistake, and we're all square.
*1-0
Berrettini takes the first point of the match, with Djokovic serving. The Serbian levels when a return is sent long, and Djokovic moves into a 40-30 lead to serve for the game, but the Italian world number nine levels at deuce, and then sets himself up with a break point.
A fierce ace from Djokovic gives him egalite, the next his own advantage, and a booming serve forces an error from Berrettini to take a lead.
