Good afternoon and welcome to Eurosport's LIVE coverage of the French Open women's singles match between Petra Kvitova and Leylah Fernandez. We'll bring you all the action as it happens at Roland Garros. Fernandez is the youngest woman left in the singles draw and is considered something of a sensation. Kvitova, however, is a seasoned campaigner and as the number seven seed is seen as a contender here, especially after two straightforward matches so far.

KVITOVA 7-5, 6-3 FERNANDEZ
It took the number seven seed a while to get going, but Kvitova found her groove towards the end of the first set and never let up. She brought up a break point with an unreturnable backhand down the line and then clinched it with a forehand winner down the other line. Winners all over the place.

KVITOVA 1-3 FERNANDEZ* (7-5)
It's her first game in a long time, but Fernandez looks to have found some bounce again. There's a spring in her step and a ping in her forehand which is once again giving Kvitova problems. Of course, she still has a lot of work to do, but this one isn't over just yet.

A double break for Kvitova in this second set and this one is getting away from Fernandez very quickly indeed. The highlight of that game was a backhand from way behind the baseline from Kvitova which dipped just over the net and caught out Fernandez who had rushed forward to make the volley.

It's another break of serve and Kvitova just has too much power for her opponent at the moment. Fernandez has allowed her first serve percentage to drop dramatically since the first few games of the first set. Kvitova has the advantage at the start of the second set.

KVITOVA 7-5 FERNANDEZ
Sensational fight from the number seven seed. Kvitova had to work very hard to take that set, even when she was serving it out. She needed no fewer than five set points, but gets it done with an unreturnable forehand. Fernandez allowed her confidence to dip and that cost her.

The Canadian's confidence has collapsed here. Fernandez serves a double fault on break point and now Kvitova will have the chance to serve out the first set. She has won five games in a row now.

Back on serve in this opening set as Kvitova grabs another break. Fernandez has allowed her first serve percentage to drop and that has allowed the number seven seed to step in on the second serve, which looks a little weak, and take control of the points. The dynamic has changed.

Fernandez had a set point, but couldn't take it and Kvitova finds some traction with two excellent winners past the young Canadian. Fernandez will have another chance to at least serve it out, but has that affected her confidence? Did she just catch a glimpse of the scoreboard?

Incredible. What a start to this match by the teenager. Fernandez drew Kvitova to the net on break point and passed the number seven seed with a wonderful winner and the 18-year-old Canadian will serve for the first set. Kvitova can't get a grip of this contest at the moment.

KVITOVA 1-3 FERNANDEZ*
This is very impressive from the young Canadian who has grabbed a second break after dropping her first service game. Fernandez is being aggresive with her groundstrokes and Kvitova is struggling to handle it at the back of the court.

KVITOVA 1-1 FERNANDEZ*
A very impressive response from the Canadian who is immediately back on serve at the start of this first set. Pvitova also looks a bit edgy out there, sending a forehand into the tramlines on break point. Fernandez looks to have found her footing in this contest.

That's a very edgy start from the Canadian. A couple unforced errors and a double fault on break point. Kvitova is ahead at the start of this first set. Is that a sign of things to come in this encounter?
