RYBAKINA 4-1 PAVLYUCHENKOVA. Elena’s game is purring right now. She’s playing with the confidence of someone who took down the GOAT of women’s tennis in the last round. She consolidates and has a strong grip on the proceedings at present.

BREAK! – RYBAKINA 3-1 PAVLYUCHENKOVA. It’s the 21-year-old Kazakh starlet who strikes first! She she’s two of three break points saved by Anastasia but then gives the treatment to a poorly disguised serve and clouts away the crosscourt forehand winner.
RYBAKINA 2-1 PAVLYUCHENKOVA. These two are still working there way into this one. No real fireworks as of yet. No doubt plenty of nerves under the poker-like faces. The No.21 seed definitely has the weapons to do damage and she does enough once more to maintain the very early running.
RYBAKINA 1-1 PAVLYUCHENKOVA. No clear danger for Pavlyuchenkova as she plays the more consistent from the baseline to ease through her opening service game for the loss of one point.
RYBAKINA 1-0 PAVLYUCHENKOVA. At times that opener was far from pretty from Rybakina. She plays catch up to deuce as she saves a break point balancing some nervy errors with magnificent shot-making. Pavs pushes her on a second BP but the Russian-born Kazakhstani saves another and goes on to claim a hard-fought hold.
Meanwhile, Pavlyuchenkova or ‘Pavs’ as we like to call her, has taken down No.3 seed Aryna Sabalenka and two-time major champion Vika Azarenka on her run to the last eight in Paris.

Rybakina produced the performance of her life to oust Serena and Mats Wilander was very impressed.
