Good morning and welcome to live coverage of what should be a pulsating final of the Shanghai Masters between Andy Murray and Roger Federer.

GAME, SET AND MATCH MURRAY What a performance! Top class. Federer just throwing in some desperately poor shots at the wrong time. Murray hammers a backhand drive from the back of the court at Federer's body to move 40-30 ahead. He can only dump the volley into the net, but Federer saves championship point with a telling forehand before an ace carries him to advantage. Another forehand error sees Federer dump a shot into the net. Murray finally ties it up as Federer misses a volley at the net.

Murray really sensing the victory. Federer being forced to play one extra shot and he looks uncomfortable with his rival's game. Fed knocks a volley wide on the backhand side. Murray has been racing around the court all night. Must be close to his best form. Federer serves to stay in the match.

A rare loose game from Murray gives Federer the chance to reduce his arrears. Murray's court coverage has been so impressive. Federer holds in that game, but he needs a break. Murray has saved six out of six break points. Federer has managed to save three out of six. That is why Murray stands on the verge of this title.

A love game from Murray. Some delightful stuff being played by the British number one and it would seem like Federer has no answer to this onslaught. Murray has answered all the questions today. Federer has pushed and probed as much as possible, but his opponent has been inspired. The second serve has really helped Murray out of some tricky situations.

MURRAY BREAKS! All going for the Scot out there. A break point for Murray after Federer hammers a forehand long. Forced to replay the point before Federer whacks a forehand across court going for the winner, but he is wide and Murray leads 3-1 in the set. Federer cuts a dejected figure. Murray well in control. Federer exchanging words with the umpire.

Murray again drops the opening two points of the game, but finds an ace with a big first serve. Another two break points for Federer. Murray saves the first one before picking out a douible handed backhand winner down the line to salvage the situation. Federer misfires at deuce as a shot hits the net, but Murray polishes off the game with another ace. This must be a source of frustration for Federer. Somehow Murray's serve remains intact.

Murray really warming to his surroundings. He comes up with a wonderful winner on the run across court. He seems to be slowly suffocating Federer with the longevity of these rallies. We hit 30-30, but Murray loses the chance with a couple of errors flying too too long. Murray to serve.

A lapse of concentration by Murray at the outset of the second set hands Federer the chance to break immediately. Murray saves the first break point by hammering a ball to Federer's backhand. Federer then hits the net before he is long with a wild forehand. Murray really testing Federer's resolve. An ace carries him to advantage before he clubs another big serve down that Federer blocks with his racket before the ball flies wide. Another great save by the Scot.

FIRST SET TO MURRAY! Some stunning tennis by Murray. At his very best to break Federer for a second time. Federer in deep trouble as he loses the opening two points of his latest service game. Murray seems to be seeing the tennis ball like a football and he drills a passing shot beyond Federer with a quality forehand to bring up two break points. He wins it with a magical passing shot on the run after Federer had looked good for the point by unloading a couple of groundstroke bombs.

Murray comes to the net to produce a deft little backhand volley after Fed is short with a groundstroke from deep. A booming forehand across court is too sharp for Murray and we reach 30-30 on the Brit's serve. Murray then throws in a double fault to present a break point to the Swiss great, but an ace out wide saves his skin. A stunning rally ends with Federer prodding a backhand wide before Murray is wide with a forehand. Murray hangs on with a big serve. One game away from the first set now.

Murray pushes for the double break. Forces the issue to clamber to 30-30, but Federer tucks away a handy ace to move to 40-30. Murray challenges the call, but it is ruled good. Federer then makes a shocking attempt at an overhead smash as he knocks it miles long. A couple of break points before Federer converts an overhead smash to prevent the double break. He finally holds serve, but these are difficult times for Federer. Murray has now had break points in three of Fed's four service games.

So Murray, 30-15 ahead and moving around with much enthusiasim. He rams a big serve into the body of Federer that his opponent can't return before he slides a winner down a line with Federer at the other side of the court. Murray spanking away anything short. He leads 4-2. In command at the moment.

Both players seem to be a little tense at certain times. This first set could dicate who is going to go on to win this match. Federer enjoys a love service game, which will boost his confidence after such a stern examination early on. Still very tight, but Murray has the break on his side.

Federer picks up the first point of the Scot's service game, but a lovely little drop shot leaves Federer stranded at the back of the court. Federer unleashes a couple of potent strokes to gain the initiative. Murray knocks the ball into the net to trail 30-15, but Federer does likewise with a backhand drive on the next point. Murray mistimes a forehand. Federer has a break point at 30-40. He can't convert as his drop shot hits the net. Murray comes up with a couple of decent serves to escape.

A bullet backhand winner across court by Murray takes the score to 30-30. Murray swinging freely and Federer then can't cope with a high looping forehand by Murray. He knocks it wide. Federer just misses with a first serve at 30-40, but the Swiss master rescues the situation with a magnificent forehand down the line that Murray can't reach. Murray had the break point, but a couple of well constructed points enables Federer to pick up his first game of the final.

An ace by Murray in the opening point as Federer continues to slip up on the forehand side. A forehand winner across court gives Federer a point after a superb return of serve, but Murray bangs down a big first serve which Federer knocks wide. Good hold by Murray. Pressure on Federer.

BREAK TO MURRAY! Not a full house on this enormous stadium court in Shanghai, which has to be a disappointment. Federer throws in a double fault on his second point of the game, but a first ace carries him to 40-15. He is wide with a forehand on the next point and is long with another forehand. Suddenly at deuce before Murray brings up a break with a booming forehand winner. Federer then misfires with another forehand. Poor start by Federer.

Murray and Federer have been broken twice in their opening four matches, but have held in 69 out of their 73 games. Players are out on court warming up.

Neither man has dropped a set in reaching the final. Murray has overcome Yan Bai, Jeremy Chardy, Jo-Wilfried Tsonga and Juan Monaco, while Federer has taken the scalps of John isner, Andreas Seppi, Robin Soderling and Novak Djokovic.
