An easy enough service hold for Murray as he moves ever closer to a place in the final when Monaco sends a forehand return of serve into the net

Murray almost earns himself another break point with backhand drop shot across court. But the ball catches the top of the tape and bounces back on to his side of the net and Monaco goes on to hold to without too much trouble

There's a slight delay as the trainer is called to the court to take a look at Monaco's right knee. He takes a while to get there and when he does, Monaco gets a quick bit of treatment (although not an injury timeout) to his knee. It looks as though it might be a cut or a sore rather than and muscle injury

Murray races through another service hold to love, working his way into the net before slamming a backhand approach shot winner down the line. He's on a roll now and seems to have got over the lapse in concentration that he suffered a few games ago

BREAK! Since breaking back Monaco has gone completely off the boil and slaps a tame forehand long to hand Murray to early break points in this second set. And the Scot does break at the first chance, simply getting balls back in play until the Argentine sends a backhand wide across court

Murray dinks an inch-perfect cross court backhand drop shot over the net to take a comfortable first game of the second set

SET! Murray breaks a string on his racquet but just keeps lobbing the ball back defensively and somehow Monaco fires wide on the third attempt. And the Argentine seems rattled as he slaps a routine forehand into the net to hand Murray to set points. And Murray grabs it at the first opportunity, getting enough deep balls back in play that Moanco hits another forehand into the net

BREAK! Ouch! Murray slaps a backhand well wide across court to hand Monaco two more break points. The Argentine wastes the first with a forehand into the net but Murray coughs up a double fault on the second and we're back on serve in this first set

Monaco successfully comes through serving to stay in the set, holding to 15 when Murray slaps a forehand return of serve into the net. But the Scot will now have the chance to serve it out

A mistake off the backhand wing from Murray and he finds himself 0-30 down. Murray gets back on an even keel with a first serve out wide that Monaco can only hit into the net and a backhand wide down the line from the Argentine after a lengthy rally. But after another lengthy rally, Murray hits a change-of-direction forehand into the net to hand Monaco a break back poimt. It's a poor return from Monaco though and Murray goes on to hold with a forehand passing shot winner across court

Monaco slaps a forehand long of the baseline to hand Murray another break point but the Argentine comes up with a cracking backhand winner down the line off a shorter ball to save it and he goes on to hold with a forehand passing shot down the line after a great chase across court for a low volley from the Scot

Murray dinks a backhand passing shot down the line from in the tramlines after a brilliant backhand approach shot across court from Monaco. And the Scot quickly completes the hold that consolidates the break with a solid first serve that the Argentine cannot get back in play

BREAK! Murray sneaks ahead with a great topspin forehand that Monaco cannot deal with. And Murray earns himself two early break points, getting up easily to a drop shot before threading a forehand volley down the line that just about beats Monaco for pace. The first goes begging when Murray hits into the net after a long rally while Monaco saves the second with a smash winner. But he gets a third chance and this time Monaco hits into the net to hand Murray the break

Murray drops just the one point on serve this time but holds with ease once again, blasting a backhand winner down after a tame backhand return of serve across court from Monaco in the process

Murray whips a running forehand passing shot across court to earn himself a sniff at the break as he levels at 30-30 but he slaps long to hand Monaco a game point. A game point that the Argentine takes full advantage of, producing a huge first serve that Murray can only mis-hit wide

Murray served brilliantly well yesterday to dismiss Tsonga, and he has started off well again today as he breezes through a love hold for the first game of the match
