GAME, SET AND MATCH MONACO! He brings up three match points, but needed only one of them. That was a superb fightback. He is through to face Andy Murray in the semis. Melzer fails to follow up on his win over Rafael Nadal. Perhaps that win over Nadal took it out of him.

Melzer shows character to hold serve, but he is looking a bit tired. Will take a supreme effort now to get out of this one with a win. Monaco serves for the match. Monaco causing the Austrian all sorts of problems.

Monaco finding his range. Melzer forces the game to deuce and staves off a point for a 5-1 lead, but Monaco will not be denied. The Argentine continues to force Melzer to play one more shot, which he can't. Monaco is one game away from the semis now.

Melzer battles back from 0-30 to 30-30, but another forehand error from the baseline is damaging. He hits the net before going long wih a forehand on the break point. Melzer in serious trouble now.

Monaco has produced a sparkling performance since losing the first set. Chasing down every ball that is going and seems to be in the right position. Melzer queried the last point of the game, but the ball is proved to be in on challenge and Monaco leads 3-1 with a break.

MONACO BREAKS! Melzer suddenly faltering. He is broken for a sixth time before the Austrian's racket is broken as it is smashed into the ground in frustration. Monaco looking the likelier man out there.

SECOND SET TO MONACO! We head for the decider. Love game to see it through. This match is wide open now. Melzer looking a bit deflated. Must be a bit tired too one would suspect.

MONACO BREAKS! This match has been going for two hours and three minutes. Melzer drops in a double fault and is left to face two break points of his own. Monaco goes for a winner on the second serve, but hits the net before Melzer saves the second with a delightful drop shot. A double fault then brings up another break point for Monaco. He wins it with a superb smash after some fabulous work in chasing the ball down.

MELZER BREAKS BACK! Monaco has been like a bundle of energy in this second set. Hits the net with a groundstroke on his first set point before a marvellous return by Melzer sees him claw it back to deuce. A brutal rally ends with Monaco going long from the back of the court and suddenly the Austrian has a point to break back. A superb forehand is enough to force another error and we are back on serve.

Melzer forces Monaco to serve out the set. The Austrian would like to run into the type of inspired play that accounted for Nadal yesterday, but so far Monaco has been up to the task in this second set.
