GAME, SET & MATCH! Three more unforced errors from Federer hand Nadal match point at 30-40 and Nadal wins it when Roger hits into the net! Nadal makes it 15-8 overall between these two and will now go on to meet Novak Djokovic in a mouthwatering final!
5-2
Nadal moves to within a game of the match with a comfortable service game of his own, with the loss of just a point. Fed now has to hold and follow with a break if he is to stay in the match.
4-2
Federer aces to a 40-15 lead - that's his sixth ace of the match, by the way - before completing the job a point later. He made that look easy, something he hasn't been able to do much today.
4-1
The stadium is absolutely rocking now! The majority are cheering for Roger at the moment but Nadal will not be deterred as he fires a superb forehand winner at 30-30! And when Roger hits one wide on the next point, Rafa holds to assume a 4-1 lead in the second set!
3-1
Nadal benefits from a double fault on the opening point of Federer's next service game before he puts that forehand to good use once again, whipping a winner past Fed! The Swiss responds with a pair of aces sandwiching a successful attacking foray to the net. But Nadal is still able to force another break point - which Fed saves, for the first time tonight. Finally, his forehand works for him and a backhand winner later he manages to hold.
3-0
Federer brings up his 25th unforced error before following it with number 26. Nadal's forehand is working just fine though and he whips a winner down the line to move 40-0 ahead. Another devastating forehand winner later and Nadal opens up a three-game lead.

BREAK! Roger rides his luck early in the game before dinking a drop shot over the net at 15-30. Nadal reaches it, but Federer hammers it back to take the point! But, undeterred, Rafa goes on to bring up break point - and he claims it as Roger finds the net! Nadal in control again, a break and a set up!
1-0
Roger makes two more unforced errors during baseline rallies - that's 24 baseline points won by Rafa compared to Roger's 11 - but he goes someway to redeeming himself with a crosscourt backhand winner that smacks of pure class. He goes on to bring up his first break point of the match, but it's saved as he gets himself in a twist at the baseline and returns into the net. Nadal goes on to hold - and it could prove to be a big one.

SET! Federer again hits the net after Nadal's defensive skills come to the fore but then it's Nadal's turn for a slip in concentration as he fires long at the baseline. But Federer then shanks one way into the crowd as Nadal brings up break - and set - point. And he takes it! The Spaniard won eight of the last 10 points there and it was all a bit too comfortable in the end.
5-3
Federer comes out second best at the end of a lengthy baseline rally and Nadal takes advantage as the Spaniard moves to within a game of taking the opening set. Roger needs something special here if he is to retain an interest in the first set.
4-3
This is better from Federer as he lashes a forehand winner past Nadal. He's also got an ace up his sleeve - his second of the match - as he serves out to hold. The only blemish is a slightly sloppy volley that goes out, but otherwise it's a pretty perfect game.
4-2
Federer successfully challenges a call on Nadal's serve but he still ends up losing the point as he smashes into the net. Nadal follows with a forehand winner that leaves Roger swiping at air - an unusual sight if there ever was one - and when Roger is long at the baseline a point later, Nadal has another game under his belt - to love.
3-2
Roger moves to the net with conviction but he conspires to hit the net! That's his ninth unforced error of the match so far. Nadal brings up deuce with a shot to the baseline that Fed finds too tricky to return but the Swiss master eventually serves out to hold for a second time.
3-1
The sun is going down in Miami, and it's a beautiful sight. Not so beautiful was that game from Federer - full of errors and not like him at all. He starts the next game in the same vein, ballooning a return out at the baseline. He follows that with another wayward shot and then one into net before a sensational Nadal forehand seals the game!
2-1

Federer twice hits the net under no real pressure before he sends a regulation forehand out - and Nadal has two break points! Another unforced - and uncharacteristic - error from Roger and Nadal has an early break through!
1-1
Rafa's got quite a bit of support in the stadium too though, and they appreciate his equally excellent start to the match as he forces Roger into two unforced errors before he whips one of his trademark forehand winners past Fed! Brilliant stuff from the Spaniard!
0-1
Roger kicks things off with an ace, much to the delight of the crowd, who are then in full voice once again as he fires a forehand winner to reach 40-15. Fed then serves and volleys expertly to clinch the opening game! Great start for the world number three!
