WINNER! Ferrer goes 4-1 up with the return of the match, hammering a decent Verdasco second serve right onto the sideline, crosscourt, inside the service box. Verdasco rallies though, and picks up an incredible five points in a row to earn two match points. He needs just one, curving an incredible forehand winner into the corner from the net, securing a stunning comeback!
6-6
Ferrer roars as he holds serve again, earning a tie-break to finish off this electrifying match! It's the fitting end to a topsy-turvy encounter, with both players looking equally determined after four and a half hours of play!
5-6
Verdasco hits his 16th ace of the match to wrap up another comfortable hold on Louis Armstrong, and to move one game closer to a tie-break decider!
5-5
Ferrer digs out a decent hold of his own, refusing to surrender this match to Verdasco.
4-5
Verdasco leaps with joy as he lands a brilliant backhand volley just over the net to seal another hold, after some stunning serves to move within a game of the quarter-finals!

BREAK! Gutsy response from Verdasco, getting himself right back in this match with a vitally important break-back. The pace of this match is electric, despite the clock ticking closer to 250 minutes!
4-3
Ferrer forces deuce against serve, but Verdasco eventually holds. The eight-seed is obviously trying to hit hard and loose again, but the accuracy just isn't there, allowing Ferrer a foothold into each game.
4-2
The crowd remain behind Verdasco, as the Spanish number two fires a stunning backhand down the line for 30-15 on Ferrer's serve, before an awfully-timed double fault gives him two break points! Ferrer saves both with some impressive serving, and manages to hold with an effective kicker of a second serve out wide. Good stuff from the 10th-seed

BREAK! Unbelievable! In another twist to this incredible match, Ferrer has broken Verdasco's serve with some immaculate ground-strokes out of nowhere! Ferrer battled back from 30-0 down to steal the break, and Verdasco's wonderful comeback could be in for a horrible ending!
2-2
He's muttering to himself at the moment, Ferrer, but whatever he's saying, it's obviously working! The Spanish number three holds to love, without letting Verdasco into the game at any point. Much much better from the 10th-seed.
1-2
That's equally comfortable for Verdasco, however, holding to 15 and looking confident. He's looking the more energetic of the two right now.
1-1
Ferrer holds to love, putting the pressure back on Verdasco's shoulders after 220 minutes of fierce tennis!
0-1
So Verdasco gets us underway in the all important fifth set! Ferrer pushes to 30, but another huge ace wraps up the hold. Verdasco's stats are improving all the time in this match, hitting more winners than errors in the fourth set, and with a first-serve percentage of around 70. Ferrer, meanwhile, is wilting.

SET! Verdasco pushes Ferrer all the way to deuce (looking for the break that would secure him the opening serve in the fifth set), before earning a set point with a stunning, angled, inside out forehand winner. The pair slug the set point out, before Verdasco eventually wastes it with a forehand over the baseline. He earns another after a lengthy deuce battle, though, and snaps it up along with the set!
3-5
Verdasco holds with some more improved serving, allowing him the leverage to sweep Ferrer's return to the opposite corner. One more hold will do it for the eighth-seed, and with Ferrer really struggling to take the fight to him.
3-4
Ferrer looks livelier on his way to 30-0, before bizarrely opting to challenge a Ferrer forehand onto the baseline, not realising that his compatriot has already returned into the net. Ferrer's initial shot was good, giving him a 40-0 lead, and the Spanish number three hits a much-needed ace to seal the hold to love. Better from Ferrer, is it too late for him to come back in this set?
2-4
Verdasco romps to 30-0 with a cracker of a forehand down the line onto the baseline, but an 11th double-fault gives Ferrer a foothold. The crowd are right behind Verdasco now, as he earns game point with another crunching ground stroke, and secures the hold with his 13th ace. He's in cruise control now, Verdasco, and Ferrer is sinking fast.

BREAK! Ferrer gifts Verdasco two break points after a long forehand drops just over the baseline. Verdasco need just one, however, hammering a forehand winner down the line to seal a potentially vital break in this fourth set!
2-2
Verdasco holds with a sliding serve out wide, with both players looking slightly jaded on Louis Armstrong. Ferrer is returning with the venom of the first two sets, and hasn't looked like breaking in either of Verdasco's service games this set.
2-1
Ferrer holds again, as the clock ticks over the three hour mark for this match. Ferrer is continuing to play his combative, consistent game, but Verdasco is continuing to swing for the windows, to mixed success so far in this set.
