WINNER! Well, it's all over on Arthur Ashe, and Rafael Nadal has run out the comfortable victor over an ultimately disappointing Feliciano Lopez! The world number one seals the win with a stunning crosscourt forehand winner, after just over two hours play. Next up for Nadal:

BREAK! Nadal hits a stunning backhand return down the line to go 30-15 against serve, before a sloppy Lopez volley into the net gives Nadal two break-points. The 23-seed promptly whips a forehand into the net from the tramlines, and gifts Nadal the potentially decisive break! It's been coming, and Nadal can now serve for the match.

Once again, Nadal spends mere minutes with the ball in hand, rattling off a straightforward hold to 15 with a couple of unreturnable serves and an ace.

Lovely serve and volley from Lopez for 15-love, and a perfect forehand down the line for 30. His 38th unforced error of the match brings Nadal up to 15, but that's as far as the top-seed gets with Lopez clinically finishing off the game from the net. His best hold of the set.

Rapid service game to 15 for Nadal, who is firing the ball onto the sidelines, and keeping Lopez on serve for as long as possible.

Lopez wins three straight points to go 40-30 up, before letting Nadal right back in the game with a double fault. The world number one wins a break point with another stunning pass, but fails to convert with a backhand into the tramlines. A 10th ace gives Lopez advantage, and another unreturnable serve seals the hold for Lopez. That serve is getting the 23rd-seed out of all sorts of bother in this set!

Easy hold for Nadal, with Lopez offering very little, and the top-seed showing some lovely hands at the net to put Lopez quickly back in to serve.

Nadal earns his chance at the breakthrough, earning three break-points at 40-0! Lopez digs out that massive serve again on the first, before raining down huge forehands on Nadal to force deuce. Lopez plays the perfect lob to the baseline to reach advantage, before sealing a hard-earned hold with another big serve. A missed opportunity for Nadal, but gutsy tennis from Lopez.

Business as usual at the start of the third set, with both players holding serve comfortably! It looks like this might come down to just one break again, but Lopez is really struggling to mount any sort of challenge against Nadal's serve.

SET! It's all going to plan so far for Rafael Nadal! It's not been the most dominant display - with just one break per set against Feliciano Lopez - but another comfortable hold puts the world number one a single set away from the quarter finals.

Lopez races to 40-0 up, before Nadal claws his way back to 40-30. A Lopez double-fault sees the top-seed back to deuce against serve yet again, but Lopez again digs himself out of trouble with some enormous serves! Nadal to serve for the second set.

Nadal goes 30-0 up with a sumptuous forehand down the line from the baseline, before earning a game point with his fourth ace of the match. He takes it with another big serve, which Lopez doesn't really bother trying to get back in.

Simply brilliant hitting from both men, as Nadal again forces deuce against serve after dragging Lopez all over the court. The 23rd-seed's serve digs him out of trouble again though, picking up the next two points to secure the hold.

Nadal looks to have sewn up another service game, but Lopez gets back to 30-40 with a forehand push onto the sideline. Lopez fails to make the foothold count, however, hitting his next forehand into the net and giving Nadal another hold of serve.

BREAK! Lopez continues his attempt to hit big against Nadal, before sending an audatious forehand dropshot into the net to give Nadal a break point. He saves the first with a huge serve, but hands Nadal the break on a plate with a terrible forehand into the net.

Nadal holds to 15, but is hitting far fewer winners in this set with just one to his name from four games

Nicely done by Lopez, slamming a serve down Nadal's throat at deuce for a game point, and wrapping up another service game with some delicate net-play. There's been nothing between these two so far in this set!

Nadal makes a meal of his opening service game of the second set, seeing Lopez grow in confidence and pick up some points in emphatic style. He looks increasingly frustrated, the Spanish top seed

Perfect start for Lopez, inflicting his first love-service game on Nadal right at the start of the second set. His first serve looks to be ticking over nicely now, after a woeful first serve percentage for the opening set - 38%.

SET! So far so good for the top seed then, holding serve to secure the opening set. He'll be thankful for the early break - with Lopez looking better and better as the set wore on - but can the 23rd-seed force a breakthrough of his own in the second set?
