BREAK! Monfils quickly brings up three set points. He wins it on the second as Gasquet hits the tape with a groundstroke. Monfils will serve for the match.

Gasquet has two set points, but Monfils manages to up his game whenever danger appears. He saves them both and is slipping and sliding to some effect. He is also celebrating in his typically exuberant manner. We are all level now in this set.

BREAK! Monfils breaks back. A double fault and a couple of slack shots gives Monfils two break points. He doesn't need a second invitation as he breaks back. This match could go any way. Both men really going at each other.

Monfils holds serves. Clinging on out there, but he must break to stay alive in this set.

Gasquet moves to within a game of the third set after two hours and 14 minutes of this encounter.

BREAK! Monfils needs treatment, but Gasquet retains his concentration to break. He needs one chance to establish a lead of two games in this set.

Gasquet has managed to tickle 71% of his first serves in. That helps him open up a 3-2 lead.

Games continue on serve. Monfils had the chance of another break, but failed to convert. He berates himself for failing to make it before Gasquet holds. Could almost reach out and touch a place in the last eight there.

Gasquet in all sorts of trouble at the start of the third set. He gives Monfils the chance to break, but rescues the situation with some daring shots.

SET! That last game seems to have knocked the stuffing out of Gasquet's revival. He loses the first three points of the game before Monfils wins it on his second set point. Monfils is suddenly back in control and two sets up.

BREAK! Inspired play by Monfils. Had no right to win a point from the back of the court at 40-40, but he plays a wonderful passing shot to move to advantage. Another sizzling return is too powerful for Gasquet to deal with at the net. Monfils will serve for the set.

A set point comes up for Gasquet, but Monfils reacts to the danger. Gasquet just fails to get to the volley of his fellow Frenchman on break point before he finally sees out the game. All square.

Get the feeling Gasquet is growing in confidence out there. He moves ahead in the set. The winner of this is due to face Mardy Fish or Novak Djokovic in the last eight.

Monfils gets out of a sticky spell at 30-30. A couple of big serves does the trick for Monfils as he levels up at 4-4. Gasquet to serve.
