MURRAY 6-3 6-2 6-2 ROSOL: GAME, SET, MATCH! Murray tamely nets a sliced backhand on the opening point and Rosol swats away a mid court forehand to give him hope at 0-30. The Czech nets a forehand return and then can’t quite get to a stop volley as Murray restores parity. Rosol hits another forehand long to concede match point and Murray completes the job with an unreturnable serve out wide. He didn’t drop serve once. Fabulous first round display.

MURRAY 6-3 6-2 5-2 ROSOL: BREAK! Rosol looks long and hard at a backhand that is mighty close but he decides not to challenge. A beautifully disguised backhand lob moves Murray to 0-30 before superb defence forces Rosol to net low down. The prize is three break points and he converts with the second. He will serve for the match.

MURRAY 6-3 6-2 4-2 ROSOL: Murray in a hurry now. Great serving helps him to 40-0 in the blink of an eye before Rosol smashes a forehand winner born of frustration. A regulation overhead puts him two games from victory.

MURRAY 6-3 6-2 3-2 ROSOL: BREAK! ‘Come on!’ cries Murray after forcing Rosol to net but he’s then furious when he twice follows suit. That leads to a scream of ‘Noooo!’ Rosol misses with another of those huge forehand attempts and then repeats on the backhand flank to concede break point. Murray looks in control of the rally but smacks his racket on the ground in frustration as he nets a forehand. Another break point comes and goes but he succeeds on the fourth as Rosol again overhits.

MURRAY 6-3 6-2 2-2 ROSOL: Murray wins the rally of the match with a deft backhand drop shot. Must have been around 30 shots of the highest quality. Actually, 29 shots has just flashed up! Rosol responds with a remarkable angle that not even Murray can hook back in play but he then hits long as Murray holds. Now to break...

MURRAY 6-3 6-2 1-2 ROSOL: Rosol sticking to his plan, going for huge groundies and he forces Murray to net and hit long. Good depth again forces an error from the Murray racket and Rosol finishes with a deft volley.

MURRAY 6-3 6-2 0-1 ROSOL: Murray nets a makeable forehand return and is furious. That’s the state of mind he’s in. Wanting absolute perfection. Some good serving from Rosol, who completes a love hold with a forehand winner.

MURRAY 6-3 6-2 ROSOL: SET! Murray pulls a backhand wide but responds with successive aces up the tee. Rosol hits a backhand wide before another ace, that practically goes through Rosol, gets the job done.

MURRAY 6-3 5-2 ROSOL: Uninhibited hitting from Rosol but again it’s a tough hold to 30. He finishes the game with an ace but Murray will serve for a two set lead.

MURRAY 6-3 5-1 ROSOL: A blistering forehand return winner should give Rosol a little confidence but he blasts his next two return efforts well long before a block return also trampolines past the baseline. An overhead smash finds its mark. Murray misses with a makeable backhand but sends a forehand past Rosol at the net to hold.

MURRAY 6-3 4-1 ROSOL: Rosol out rallies Murray from the back of the court for once but just misses with a backhand. The onslaught continues with a punishing Murray forehand but Rosol regains parity with an overhead smash and holds with an ace. He’s having to do so much just to win a service game now.

MURRAY 6-3 4-0 ROSOL: A change of shirt for Rosol but no change of fortune as Murray threads a superb backhand up the line and follows with an ace. He ends the point with an aerial backhand pirouette that is one for the highlight reel. Superb!

MURRAY 6-3 3-0 ROSOL: BREAK! Murray asking all the questions and Rosol nets with a volley. An incredible scramble from Murray somehow keeps him in the next point before he nets with a backhand pass attempt. Successive double faults gifts Murray another break chance and he needs do no more as a Rosol hat-trick hands the break.

MURRAY 6-3 2-0 ROSOL: Rosol misses with a midcourt forehand that he also loses a challenge on before Murray sends away a confident overhead. He completes a love hold with an ace and really looks on superb form.

MURRAY 6-3 1-0 ROSOL: BREAK! The pair trade unforced errors to open the second set and Rosol then nets a backhand. A superb backhand return brings a volley error for two break points and Murray puts away a midcourt forehand for the immediate break.
