Good afternoon! It’s time to commence with the Day 3 action at the 2021 US Open. We’ll be focusing on Great Britain’s Dan Evans to begin with as he meets the USA’s world No.64 Marcos Giron. The players will be out on Court 10 imminently.

The British No.1 steers home a volley to clock up two match points and then seals it on the first of them with a superb serve-volley combo via the backhand. He lets out a huge roar of celebration and moves into round three after a tough two-hour and 44 minute battle.

BREAK! - EVANS 6-4 7-6 2-6 5-3 GIRON. Boom! Evo chooses the perfect moment to step it up a level and makes what could be a key breakthrough. He will now serve for the match.

EVANS 6-4 7-6 2-6 4-3 GIRON. It’s a dogged hold from deuce for Evo as he keeps his nose in front. Neither player blinking on serve and still no BPs for Giron in Set 4.

EVANS 6-4 7-6 2-6 2-2 GIRON. Still on serve although Evo has been the one to pose the question, failing to convert the only BP of this set so far.

EVANS 6-4 7-6 2-6 1-0 GIRON. That’s better from the British No.1. He hits the reset button and finds a nice helping of that serving mojo to commence Set 4 on the right note.

SET! - EVANS 6-4 7-6 2-6 GIRON. Well, that was emphatic. Giron blows Evans away to clinch Set 3 and galvanise his own belief that he can still turn this around.

BREAK! - EVANS 6-4 7-6 2-5 GIRON. That’s a shocker for Evo and it looks like Giron is going to force a fourth. The American holds before claiming the double break on his second opportunity.

EVANS 6-4 7-6 2-3 GIRON. Dan stays in touch. It’s been such a tight match since the early latter stages of Set 1. Early on it looked like Evo was going to cruise through but he’s had his work cut out ever since.

EVANS 6-4 7-6 1-3 GIRON. The American continues on the front foot with that forehand doing plenty of the heavy lifting.

EVANS 6-4 7-6 1-2 GIRON. Evo turns on the after-burners to hit back from 0-30 and avoid what would surely have been curtains for his hopes of turning this set around.

BREAK! - EVANS 6-4 7-6 0-2 GIRON. It’s the perfect response from Giron. He secures an immediate break and backs it up to take early control in Set 3.

SET! - EVANS 6-4 7-6 GIRON. Dan is THE man! He clinches the tie break by a 7-3 scoreline and is now one set away from round three.

TB LATEST. ‘Come on Evo, come on!’ is the shout from Evans himself as he nudges into a 4-2 lead at the change of ends.

EVANS 6-4 6-6 GIRON. A hold apiece and we are heading into a tie break.

EVANS 6-4 5-5 GIRON. Dan races into a 40-0 lead but needs three bites at the cherry to reach parity. This set is pretty tense right now.

EVANS 6-4 4-5 GIRON. The Brit goes after another break that would put him in charge but can’t make the most of good situations at 15-30 and deuce. Giron digs out a tough hold and applies the scoreboard pressure.

EVANS 6-4 4-4 GIRON. No let up from Evans. He was beginning to turn the tide before the delay and he’s come out ready to rock. He holds from 30-0 up and levels the set.
