GAME, SET AND MATCH! – EVANS 6-3 6-7 6-4 6-1 MONTEIRO. It’s all over! Evo overcomes fatigue and a tricky Brazilian opponent to serve out a four-set victory in three hours and 34 minutes on Court 10. The Brit will meet Giron or Hoang next.

EVANS 6-3 6-7 6-4 5-1 MONTEIRO. Thiago avoids the bagel after digging deep at 30-30 and forces Evans to serve it out.
EVANS 6-3 6-7 6-4 5-0 MONTEIRO. It's cruise-control now and this tricky, hard-fought match has suddenly turned into a procession. Evo backs up the double break and is one game away from round two.

BREAK! – EVANS 6-3 6-7 6-4 4-0 MONTEIRO. Superb from Evans! He’s in complete control now and snares the double break. He’s got the insurance now and should see this through.
EVANS 6-3 6-7 6-4 3-0 MONTEIRO. The British No.1 consolidates and can see round two creeping up on his horizon.

BREAK! – EVANS 6-3 6-7 6-4 2-0 MONTEIRO. Fist pump time! Evo breaks and is in complete control right now.
EVANS 6-3 6-7 6-4 1-0 MONTEIRO. It’s not pretty but Evans opens Set 4 with a hold to 30. Monteiro slaps a loose forehand wide and will need to start making those again if he’s to deny the Brit a spot in round two.

SET! – EVANS 6-3 6-7 6-4 MONTEIRO. Awesome tennis from Evans! He unloads a stunning forehand winner to seal the third set in style. The Brit thought his chance had gone when he cannoned a forehand attempt up the line into the net with Monteiro seemingly stranded in the forecourt. The Brazilian was delighted to make deuce but coughed up a second opportunity when he was undone by a lob. Evo breaks to lead 2-1 and is now receiving treatment on foot blisters.
EVANS 6-3 6-7 5-4 MONTEIRO. There’s no doubt Evans wants this. He’s fatigued but looks to have accepted that and is less agitated. There’s still no dip as he motors through to crank up that scoreboard pressure. Monteiro must now serve to stay in the set.
EVANS 6-3 6-7 4-3 MONTEIRO. Thiago gets lucky with an opening point net cord to pose an early question but Evo hits back and then gets his own bit of fortune as the Brazilian leaves a slice and sees it drop in. The Brummie screams ‘feet!’ as his laboured movement contributes to a wide forehand but he stands firm to take the game to 30 with an accomplished backhand smash.
EVANS 6-3 6-7 3-3 MONTEIRO. No danger once again. Evans glides into the forecourt to try and change that at 40-15 down but proceeds to dump a very make-able volley into the net. All square.
EVANS 6-3 6-7 3-2 MONTEIRO. Is this the calm before the storm? Neither player is offering much resistance to the server so far. It could be they are conserving energy for the business end of the set as the points have clearly been shorter.
EVANS 6-3 6-7 2-2 MONTEIRO. Thiago waves that wand of a forehand and another simple but highly effective service game ends with a power-house crosscourt winner.
EVANS 6-3 6-7 2-1 MONTEIRO. It’s all rather routine in the opening stages of this set. Evans benefits from some loose returning from his opponent and nudges the board in his favour once more.
EVANS 6-3 6-7 1-1 MONTEIRO. Evans perhaps shows signs he’s not keen to keep going toe-to-toe from the baseline by mixing it up with an early drop shot. He’s suitable punished by the Brazilian who coolly draws level.
EVANS 6-3 6-7 1-0 MONTEIRO. Pundits and casual followers on the Twittersphere are suggesting Evans needed to win that set to progress to round two, but he comes out all guns blazing at the start of Set 3 and breezes through his opening service game.

SET! – EVANS 6-3 6-7 MONTEIRO. It’s one apiece! Evans can’t find the line with a crosscourt forehand and it’s the world number 93 who takes a rollercoaster breaker by an 8-6 scoreline.
