A five-set epic lasting four hours and 19 minutes comes to a close.
Alcaraz looked as though he had the match tied up after a dominant third set.

However, Tiafoe had other ideas. He was sublime in his efforts to force a deciding set.
The American can take great encouragement from his performances in New York.
Alcaraz showed grit and determination to overcome a wave of sustained pressure.

He will now rest and recover ahead of the final against Casper Ruud on Sunday.
