S Williams 0-1 Serena makes a real hash of her first service game as she does not look her best at all. It is strewn with unforced errors, most of which crash into the net and Pavlyuchenkova can't believe her luck as she is handed the opening game against the serve.

S Williams 7-5, 6-1 Game, Set & Match Serena gives herself two match points with a nice bit of chip and charge which Pavlyuchenkova can't respond to, she also couldn't respond to the powerful ace that proved to be the match winning point. After a shaky start it was impressive stuff from Williams.

S Williams 7-5, 5-1 Serena doesn't take advantage of her first two break points but she makes the most of the third after a protracted spell after deuce which saw Pavlyuchenkova take advantage numerous times but each time fail to convert it, she eventually hit a forehand into the net to put Williams within a game of winning the match
-
S Williams 7-5, 4-1 Pavlyuchenkova is going to have to find some way of combatting the Williams serve, she managed it in the opening set when it wasn't quite at its best but cant get near it here. Serena wins the game to love and lokos to be canterring to victory.
-
S Williams 7-5, 3-1 Better from Pavlyuchenkova, even with a double fault she wins the game fairly comfortably, Serena knows she just has to see home her own service games here and she will take the match
-
Williams 7-5, 3-0 Serena looks very comfortable on her own serve now while Pavlyuchenkova looks more and more disgruntled, she is till trying to be aggressive but perhaps trying a bit too hard and Williams is teasing her into mistakes with ease.

S Williams 7-5, 0-2 - BREAK Pavlyuchenkova now the one remonstrating with herself and the umpire as well for good measure, she seems to have fallen apart since losing the first set just as Serena is coming into her own. A dangerous combination that could see this set over very quickly.
-
Williams 7-5, 1-0 It is looking a lot better for Serena now as she holds the first game of the second set with ease, she seems to have got over whatever her frustrations were in the opening stages and Pavlyuchenkova is in a lot of trouble against the serve now

S Williams 7-5 - SET Serena breaks again at the crucial time, picking up the first set. Pavlyuchenkova continued to be aggressive, getting forward anf volleying hard but Williams was up to it, Pavlyuchenkova's final volley was a desperate backhand lunge and it flew well wide of the right line to the delight of Williams
-
S Williams 6-5 Both women have found their service game in style now as Williams wins that one to love. She looks focussed and unlikely to drop much on her own serve at this point, you would back her in a tie break.
-
S Williams 5-5 More power and accuracy on the forehand from Pavlyuchenkova which gets her out of jail after dropping 0-30 behind. She isn't afraid to attack the net against Serena and it is paying off for her here.
-
S Williams 5-4 Pavlyuchenkova is producing some excellent shots here on the forehand, but when Williams lands her first serve there isn't a whole lot she can do about it. The game went to deuce but then Serena showed the power of her second serve as Pavlyuchenkova just got ehr racket to it but had no chance of returning it.
-
S Williams 4-4 Like London busses a hold of serve doesn't come for an age and then two come along at once. Serena is very frustrated with herself as she flashes a routine forehand into the net to concede the game.
-
S Williams 4-3 Someone finally holds serve and it is Serena who manages it, finally finding her range on the first serve and powering home any that Pavlyuchenkova dared to return. That's more like it.

S Williams 3-3 This is a very odd game indeed. Williams wins this one to love as Pavlyuchenkova sends yet another backhand into the net. Looks like whoever holds first will take this opening set.

S Williams 2-3 No one can hold serve here. Williams seemed to be taking control but Pavlyuchenkova brought it back to deuce and on the fourth break point of the game absolutely hammered a forehand second-serve return past Serena'a forehand.

S Williams 2-2 Another break of serve in this one and that was finally more down to the dominance of Williams rather than unforced errors. She showed her naturl power by pinning Pavlyuchenkova back to the baseline and powering backhands either side of her which she just couldn't deal with.

S Williams 1-2 Quite a start to this one as Pavlyuchenkova breaks again, both players are looking very out of sorts here and it seems all they need to do is get it into the opponent's half and they will find the net with their next shot

S Williams 1-1 Pavlyuchenkova produces much the same game that her opponent had in the opener. A very tame way to hand the break to Williams as she drops a forehand into the net after a run of the mill return of serve from Serena. She ahd to capitalise there and did anything but.
