GAME, SET AND MATCH! - PENG 6-2 6-1 BENCIC. The Chinese reaches a Grand Slam semi final for the first time in her career with a comprehensive drubbing of one of the much-hyped new kids on the block inside an hour and five minutes. She becomes the second Chinese in history to reach the last four after Li Na. In the end, it was the same old story for Bencic who roared back from 30-0 down but then fired long to hand her opponent match point. Another error into the net was perhaps fitting way for her to bow out after an error-strewn display, but take nothing away from Peng who has been sensational throughout the tournament and deserves to progress. She will now meet Wozniacki or Errani in the last four, with the pair set to do battle on Ashe in the final match of Day Nine.

PENG 6-2 5-1 BENCIC. Belinda enjoys her best service game of the match to hold to love, but it's come far too late in the day. From a pride point of view, she at least avoids the bagel as Peng prepares to serve for the match.

PENG 6-2 5-0 BENCIC. It's been quite a brutal reality check for the Swiss. It's not been a complete hammering from point to point, but whenever she gets a foothold in the game she blows it with an unforced error. At 40-0 down she battles back into it with some superb tennis, but it's deja vu as a slack forehand into the net puts Peng one game away from the semis.

BREAK! - PENG 6-2 4-0 BENCIC. It's a going from bad to worse for Bencic. More misery on her serve sees a gust of wind blow Peng's shot down the line back into court and allows the Chinese to tee up two break points. A commanding rally and ferocious finish puts Bencic back in it but she overcooks a forehand to the baseline seconds later to fall a set and a double break behind.

PENG 6-2 3-0 BENCIC. It seems to going from bad to worse for the teen who is given a talking to by the umpire for a coaching violation. To her credit, she uses the ticking off in a positive way and battles back from 30-0 down. But she's barely won any key points today and it's the same again in this game as she slaps two weak shots into the net. Peng can see that last-four berth growing bigger on the horizon....

BREAK! - PENG 6-2 2-0 BENCIC. It's not going to be the 17-year-old's day. A scooped shot from the baseline drops in for Peng as Bencic suffers more discomfort on serve to trail 15-30. The Swiss battles back into it but then flaps a woeful shot wide before crashing a frustrated attempt into the net. She's got an awful lot to do if she's going to turn this around from here.
-
PENG 6-2 1-0 BENCIC. Peng Shuai continues to come out on top on the big points. The Chinese sees her lead whittled down to 40-30, but just when Bencic has half an opening she blazes a forehand into the right-hand alley she is facing to gift Peng the hold.

SET! - PENG 6-2 BENCIC. Stunning play by Peng who breaks again to clinch the first set in 35 minutes. China's number three pounces upon the increasingly regular unforced errors from the Swiss to snare the game from 30-40 with a stunning crosscourt winner that clips the far corner of the baseline. She has been on song so far today.
-
PENG 5-2 BENCIC. Peng sees her serve misfire allowing Bencic the hint of a chance at 30-30. A scorching two-handed backhand down the line puts her back in the driving seat and she moves to within one game of the opening set with another winner.
-
PENG 4-2 BENCIC. A bright response by Bencic sees her fire down some big first serves to roar 40-0 up. But Peng battles back as an audacious lob and a double fault from the Swiss tie it at deuce. The teen starlet looks ruffled but swings down another big serve and then forces the Chinese to fizz long to deny her the chance of a double break.
-
PENG 4-1 BENCIC. The 28-year-old takes a firm grip of the first set as she holds to 15 to consolidate the break.

BREAK! - PENG 3-1 BENCIC. An ace to start and some magnificent anticipation to whip a winner down the line off Peng's crosscourt humdinger puts Bencic in control at 30-15. The Chinese responds with an acutely angled pickup on the run and then opens up the opportunity at 30-40. The Swiss creaks and ultimately snaps when she cannons a shot down the line into the net cord.
-
PENG 2-1 BENCIC. The Teen manages to get her teeth into Peng's serve and puts China's number three under all sorts of pressure at 15-40. But Peng hits back with two ferocious serves - including an ace - and takes the next four points in a row to clinch the comeback.
-
PENG 1-1 BENCIC. The 17-year-old gives a cameo of her much-hailed abilities with an impressive hold to 15. She slams down an ace to seal it and levels it up early on here.
-
PENG 1-0 BENCIC. At 15-0 the Swiss volleys way beyond the tramlines from a dominant position at the net. She winces - partly due to the intense sun she is facing and partly because it was still a poor execution. Peng takes the next point and then shows her opponent 11 years her junior how to put away a winner at the net to hold to love. A solid start from the Chinese.

It's been a meteoric rise for 2013 Junior Wimbledon and French Open champion, Bencic. The 17-year-old Swiss has been one of the stories of the tournament so far and has her sights set on continuing the fairytale even further. Speaking after her impressive straight sets success over Jelena Jankovic in the last 16, Bencic said: "It's amazing. I definitely didn't feel any pressure because it was my first time on the Arthur Ashe in the night session. So I really just tried to enjoy it. I think she had all the pressure because she needed to win. I could just enjoy. I mean, I would have many more chances if I didn't win today."

Bencic's round four win over Jankovic saw her become the youngest woman to reach the US Open quarter-finals since her fellow Swiss, Martina Hingis in 1997.
