GAME, SET AND MATCH! - KERBER 6-4 6-3 WOZNIACKI. Angelique Kerber celebrates her forthcoming coronation as world number one by booking her place in the final of a major for the third time this year. The German shrugged off being broken as she served for the match by hitting straight back to end any hope of a Wozniacki resurrection. In truth, Angie had the occasional lapse but was always too strong for the spirited Dane. Kerber will now meet Karolina Pliskova in Saturday's final.

BREAK! - KERBER 6-4 5-3 WOZNIACKI. Jitters? Kerber crumbles and drops her service game to love. Wozniacki has been given a slither of hope. Kerber needs to re-focus here. She's paying the price for thinking her job was done.

KERBER 6-4 5-2 WOZNIACKI. Caroline romps to a love hold. If she could have done that more often we may well have had a special match. There have been some great rallies and moments of brilliance, but Kerber has pretty much always looked in control. She will now serve for a place in her first US Open final.
-
KERBER 6-4 5-1 WOZNIACKI. The German is one away. A couple of crosscourt winners from 30-30 see off the Wozniacki challenge. Whether it is trading backhands, slices, dropshots or volleys - Kerber tends to come out on top more often than not. She's looking worthy of the world number one spot, which she will officially assume on Monday.
-
BREAK! - KERBER 6-4 4-1 WOZNIACKI. Angelique secures the double break to 15. Wozniacki keeps battling but even a super show of agility in the point of the match at 0-15 can't stop Kerber coming out on top. The German just has the edge when it matters most. The final beckons.
-
KERBER 6-4 3-1 WOZNIACKI. Angie digs deep from 0-30 to reel off four points in a row and maintain her break advantage. Frustration for Caro.
-
KERBER 6-4 2-1 WOZNIACKI. Just when you think of writing Wozniacki off, she comes roaring back. The Dane looks forlorn at 15-30 down but comes out on top in a majestic 27-shot rally before a drive volley and scorching backhand to the left flank she is facing get her on the board.
-
KERBER 6-4 2-0 WOZNIACKI. The Australian Open champion consolidates to 30 as Woz cracks an attempt down the line into the net. There's a look of resignation on her face as she turns away in frustration. Even someone so renowned for great spirit and fighting qualities realises this challenge is proving too steep to overcome.
-
BREAK! - KERBER 6-4 1-0 WOZNIACKI. Caroline resists and resists but eventually succumbs to the Kerber pressure in a lengthy opening game of set two. The Dane saves one BP but is made to sweat from deuce and the German takes full advantage on her second. The new world number one is looking good to reach her third GS final of the year.

SET! - KERBER 6-4 WOZNIACKI. The German finally gets the job done, holding to 15 when Woz dragged wide with a crosscourt attempt. Angie roared out of the traps but allowed herself to get flustered by what she perceived to be coaching from the Wozniacki camp. Caro fought hard to get back into it, but despite making the scoreline far more respectable, she didn't quite have enough to force parity.
-
KERBER 5-4 WOZNIACKI. A brilliant hold for Woz. She fights hard in what proves to be a lengthy service game, saving two set points before pulling off the hold. The Dane produced some superb winners to dig herself out of trouble and needs to keep doing that if she is to have a realistic chance here.
-
KERBER 5-3 WOZNIACKI. Angie mixes up her service game and reaps the rewards, forcing errors from Caro to hold to 15. She's stopped the rot and is one away from snaring the opener.
-
KERBER 4-3 WOZNIACKI. Three in a row for the Dane. She's responded well and just about does enough to fend off Kerber's bid to re-establish her dominance with a hold to 30. We finally have a match on our hands.
-
BREAK! - KERBER 4-2 WOZNIACKI. Kerber's level has dipped and Caro is taking full advantage. The Dane is hitting harder now and finds some winners to move 15-40 up. Angie saves one BP with a blistering winner down the line after a pulsating rally, but then double faults to hand her Danish opponent a glimmer of hope in this set.
-
KERBER 4-1 WOZNIACKI. Caro is on the board! The Dane was facing up to the prospect of the bagel as a devilish overhead from Kerber set up double break point. But Woz is nothing if not a fighter and she somehow saved both with big serving and bold approach at the net before taking the game from deuce. She'll feel ALOT better now.
