SHARAPOVA IS THROUGH! 6-3, 6-2! What an emphatic win over the world number 10 for Sharapova. The Russian dictated the play, struck the ball with authority and there wasn't much Ostapenko could do about that.

*SHARAPOVA 5-2 OSTAPENKO (6-3): Sharapova is just a game away from reaching the fourth round. Ostapenko gave herself a look at 40-30, but Sharapova finds an ace on game point.

SHARAPOVA 4-2 OSTAPENKO* (6-3): Oh dear. Ostapenko falls victim to her serve once again, double faulting on break point and Sharapova has a lead in this second set.

*SHARAPOVA 3-2 OSTAPENKO (6-3): For the first time in the second set, Sharapova edges ahead. She seems to have steadied herself over the past two games.

SHARAPOVA 2-2 OSTAPENKO*: A fourth break in a row in this second set! The match is really starting to warm up. Not an especially high quality, but Ostapenko is competitive now.

*SHARAPOVA 1-2 OSTAPENKO: A third break of serve in a row. Sharapova went for the big second serve on break point and misses. Ostapenko edges ahead again.

SHARAPOVA 1-1 OSTAPENKO* (6-3): An immediate break back for Sharapova. Wonderful backhand down the line from Sharapova to break Ostapenko to get back on serve.

*SHARAPOVA 0-1 OSTAPENKO (6-3): A dip in concentration from Sharapova at the start of the second set. She throws in a double fault on break point and Ostapenko has raised her game here.

SHARAPOVA TAKES THE FIRST SET 6-3! The Russian grabs her third break of the first set and that's enough to give her the lead in this match. Ostapenko was warming up towards the end there, though.

*SHARAPOVA 5-3 OSTAPENKO: Where have we seen that before? Sharapova fails to close out the set, with Ostapenko breaking to give her a way back into this match.

SHARAPOVA 5-2 OSTAPENKO*: Ostapenko keeps herself alive in this set by saving two break points. Smarter serving from the youngster. She needs much more of that.

*SHARAPOVA 5-1 OSTAPENKO: It's now five games in a row for Sharapova. Her serving has been excellent. Ostapenko just has now answer to this play from the Russian.

SHARAPOVA 4-1 OSTAPENKO*: It's another break of serve for Sharapova and it's another double fault from Ostapenko on break point. That is killing her out there. Ouch.

*SHARAPOVA 3-1 OSTAPENKO: Good hold of serve from the Russian who is playing very high tempo tennis at the start of this first set, Very impressive from Sharapova.

ZVEREV IS OUT! There was to be no comeback from Zverev this time who crashes out of the US Open to Kohlschreiber, losing in four sets 6-7, 6-4, 6-1, 6-3. Zverev had a 3-0 lead in the fourth set!

SHARAPOVA 2-1 OSTAPENKO*: It's first blood to Sharapova. Ostapenko's first serve is really causing her problems. She needs to up that percentage.
