Hello and welcome to our LIVE coverage of the evening session of Day One of the 2018 US Open! First up, we're going to be focussing on the match between Serena Willians and Magda Linette.

Williams was brilliant there. The first set was competitive, with the match hinging on the game at 3-3. From that point on, Williams was in complete control and she will face Carina Witthoeft in round two.

SERENA IS THROUGH! Williams 6-4, 6-0 Linette. An exceptional performance from Williams to start her 2018 US Open campaign. She looked a little nervous early on, but once she shook that off there was no way Linette could stop her.

WILLIAMS 5-0 LINETTE* (6-4): Williams is just one game away from the second round. She has won nine of the last 10 games. Linette is being flattened here. So much weight on Williams' groundstrokes from the back of the court now.

*WILLIAMS 4-0 LINETTE (6-4): Williams is in a hurry here. There was a chance for a break at 30-30, but a 115mph ace followed by an unreturnable serve down the T sees Williams hold.

WILLIAMS 3-0 LINETTE* (6-4): This is now domination from Williams! The highlight in that break game was a running passing shot which was greeted with a roar from Williams!

*WILLIAMS 2-0 LINETTE (6-4): Linette makes an inroad on the Williams serve, fighting back from 40-15 to deuce. However, some solid serving gets Williams through the game.

WILLIAMS 1-0 LINETTE* (6-4): What a start to the second start for Williams, who breaks to love. Linette looked a bit flustered there. She needs to gather herself here or this could get away from the Pole.

Decider! They're going to a deciding set between Anderson and Harrison. That's where the drama is in this first evening session of the 2018 US Open.

Slightly patchy start to the set from Williams, with Linette playing some good points from the baseline. The great champion has had just too much for the Pole so far, though. Looking good for her.

SERENA WINS THE FIRST SET! Williams 6-4 Linette. The American is warming to the task nicely. She is still playing contained tennis, but she has the first set. Williams' serve is getting better and better.

WILLIAMS 5-4 LINETTE*: Good hold to love from Linette, with a serve down the T seeing out the game. Williams will now serve for a 1-0 lead.

*WILLIAMS 5-3 LINETTE: A driven forehand down the line takes Linette to deuce, but Williams gets through and now the Pole will serve to stay in the first set.

FIRST BREAK! WILLIAMS 4-3 LINETTE*: There it is! Linette just couldn't handle Williams there, with two break points brought up at 15-40. Williams takes the first of them, with Linette putting a backhand in the tramlines.

Azarenka is through! The two-time Australian Open champion beats Viktoria Kuzmova in straight sets and moves into the second round. Her form has been getting better and beter.

*WILLIAMS 3-3 LINETTE: This is not a good sign for Linette. The Williams serve is starting to heat up. She holds to love.
