KYGRIOS 6-4 6-3 6-7 4-0 STEPANEK: Kygrios still chuntering, asking the Umpire just what he did to receive a code violation. He either puts it behind him or it spurs him on as he forces a break point and lets out a scream as he goes a double break up.

KYGRIOS 6-4 6-3 6-7 3-0 STEPANEK: Much more comfortable from Kygrios now as he races to 40-15 before sealing the game with an ace.

KYGRIOS 6-4 6-3 6-7 2-0 STEPANEK: A shocking service game from Stepanek and he concedes the immediate break.

KYGRIOS 6-4 6-3 6-7 1-0 STEPANEK: Kygrios receives a code violation for bad language and doesn’t like it. “What did I say?” he asks the Umpire, who responds, “You know what you said.” It fires him up and he holds to love!

KYGRIOS 6-4 6-3 6-7 STEPANEK: SET STEPANEK! Stepanek is pumped up and the shanks have suddenly disappeared. Lovely shotmaking and he goes 5-2 up with the mini break but then nets a simple backhand before squandering a set point. An injection of pace gives Kygrios match point at 8-7 but a brilliant’ diving volley saves it. Stepanek then hits wide to concede another match point on the Aussie’s serve but again, an unforced error makes it 9-9. Stepanek forces the error on the Kygrios serve and a lovely pass takes the set. ON WE GO!

KYGRIOS 6-4 6-3 6-6 STEPANEK: TIE BREAK: That’s what Kygrios would have wanted to do last game. His first serve returns in time and it will be a tie break.

KYGRIOS 6-4 6-3 5-6 STEPANEK: Stepanek is suddenly really pumped. He doesn’t want to go home. Two screams and fist pumps show he’s up for the long haul as he closes out to love.

KYGRIOS 6-4 6-3 5-5 STEPANEK: Kygrios starts to wobble, falling 0-30 down. Stepanek lets out a cry of anguish after netting a backhand but Kygrios does likewise to concede two break points. The first is saved with an ace but the Aussie then hits long. A lifeline for the Cech.

KYGRIOS 6-4 6-3 5-3 STEPANEK: Kygrios wins a long opening rally but throws in a second double to give Stepanek hope. The Aussie regroups and moves a step closer to the second round as Stepanek hits long.

KYGRIOS 6-4 6-3 4-3 STEPANEK: Stepanek’s shots starting to go awry but he comes out on top of a lovely exchange to bring a smile from the Aussie. The Cech holds to 30.
