We've had fireworks from Maria Sharapova, Sabine Lisicki and Petra Kvitova already today - can Victoria Azarenka or Tamira Paszek find similar form this evening?

AZARENKA - GAME, SET & MATCH - 6-3 6-1 - The Belarussian brings out all the shots in the final game of the match. Azarenka wins the first point with a delicate slice and then forces Paszek to miss with a number of varied ground strokes. The 4th seed does make a couple of errors, hitting long, but takes her second match point as she powers the Austrian off the court. The World No. 5 advances to the semi-finals at Wimbledon for the first time.

AZARENKA - BREAK - 6-3 5-1 - Not ideal. Paszek opens up a 40-0 lead, sending down an ace and two unreturned serves. The following three points are an absolute disaster. She needs a second serve on all of them and every single one is too weak. Three huge returns of serve take it to deuce. Paszek then makes two errors on the forehand and Azarenka will now serve for a place in the semi-final.

AZARENKA 6-3 4-1 - Very simple again. The favourite holds to 15 with some pinpoint serves. Azarenka's only mistake is hitting long with a cross-court backhand as she attempts to go for the outright winner. Paszek will need to break very soon if she is going to stand a chance of getting herself back in this match.

AZARENKA 6-3 3-1 - Unbelievable, Jeff! Azarenka brings up another break point after winning the most entertaining rally of the match. Both players are sprinting around the court like headless chickens, playing all sorts of shots. The Belarussian, who looks out it for the duration, wins it with a clipped forehand at the net. It doesn't deter the Austrian though, who battles on to hold. What a game!!

AZARENKA 6-3 3-0 - Big serving, big shrieking. That's all the 4th seed does during that game and it works. She holds to love. Paszek looks to the gods (well, at the Centre Court roof at least) seemingly looking for some inspiration. The Austrian is going to need to find it from somewhere because this quarter-final could run away from her.

AZARENKA - BREAK - 6-3 2-0 - Argh. Paszek is at 0-30, a huge point in the match, and tries a drop shot that crashes into the net. Nerves? Possibly. The Austrian does well though, saving the first two as Azarenka hits wide. Nobody could've done anything about the third though. Paszek plays an almost perfect point, sending Azarenka way out wide but the Belarussian hits the ball around the net post for a winner.

AZARENKA 6-3 1-0 - Solid hold. The 21-year old is playing with fluidity at the minute that Paszek is trying her best to, but can't quite combat it. The 4th seed holds to 15.

AZARENKA - SET - 6-3 - WOW. Poor Tamira Paszek. The Austrian has a game point but loses it in the most unfortunate circumstances. Azarenka's smash at the net is poor and clips the tape to land on the line. Azarenka then takes charge with a forehand volley to bring up a set point. After trading ground strokes from the baseline Paszek hits the net when sent out wide and it's first set to the Belarussian.

AZARENKA - BREAK - 5-3 - Strange. Azarenka seems to be suffering from nerves a little bit. The 4th seed crafts two set points and manages to make a mess of them both. The second one is just woeful. The Belarussian has a simple volley at the net, on her forehand, but hits long. Paszek then takes advantage of the nerves and gets one of the breaks back with some big hitting.

AZARENKA 5-2 - 20-year old Paszek is not having a great deal of fortune at the minute. A forehand that looked like it had beaten Azarenka catches the tape and falls back on her side of the court. The 4th seed crushes a backhand cross-court for a clean winner to lead 0-30. Paszek fights back though, serving up and unreturnable effort followed by two aces. Azarenka nets to hand the World No. 80 her second hold of the match.

AZARENKA 5-1 - The two ladies trade cross-court forehands from the baseline. Azarenka's are accompanied by an ear-drum-piercing shriek that could rival even that of Maria Sharapova's. The 4th seed wins the battle and takes the lead in the game. The 21-year old continues with the dominance from the baseline and holds to 15 with a forehand winner down the line. Too good.

AZARENKA - BREAK - 4-1 - It doesn't look like Paszek is too comfortable on her backhand at the minute. The Austrian is running around it any chance she can get. But judging on that point, when she completely mis-times it and sends it at least a metre long, she shouldn't. The World No. 80 crafts herself a game point but can't convert as Azarenka's rocket of a backhand goes cross-court for a clean winner. The Belarussian gets the double break when Paszek's attempted forehand pass drifts wide.

AZARENKA 3-1 - 75 places separate these two. It's showing at the minute. Azarenka powers her way to a service hold to love. Paszek hits a backhand long on game point, allowing the Belarussian to consolidate the break.

AZARENKA - BREAK - 2-1 - Oooh. Short second serves are not the way to go against Victoria Azarenka. Paszek serves up a big juicy one and the Belarussian 4th seed hits the return for a clean winner. The World No. 5 approaches the net on the following point and dispatches a swinging forehand volley. Paszek sends a backhand long at 0-40 and that's the break. Comprehensive.

AZARENKA 1-1 - Azarenka starts very positively, looking to take control with every shot she hits, as she deos every time she plays. The Belarussian serve-volleys on the first point and puts away a backhand drive-volley. She then double faults to let Paszek back in before putting away an ace down the middle. Another drive volley, this time on her forehand, at game point secures the hold.

The players are out on Centre Court and are currently going through their warm-up before they conclude their quarter-final.

Word is that the two ladies should be on court within the next 20 minutes so it is a certainty that all quarter-finals will be completed today.

We have a decision. And it is that this game will be moved onto Centre Court where the roof is on. Bad news for Court No.1 ticket holders who will not be allowed in. It is for Centre Court ticket holders only.

A tricky situation is made a lot easier with the arrival of some heavy rain. "Ladies and gentleman, due to the slippery courts play is suspended" can be heard from the chair umpire Fiona Edwards.
