GAME, SET AND MATCH WILLIAMS! A Williams mishit catches the line for a 4-3 lead to the American only for Azarenka to find a super first serve to level at 4-4. Azarenka clubs a forehand away for a 5-4 lead, but that becomes 5-5 with a 23rd ace for Williams. Azarenka catches the tape seconds later to hand Williams match point. Williams goes for a drop shot and a lob for some reason that fail. 6-6. Azarenka dumps a shot into the net for a 7-6 Williams lead. A 24th ace from Williams ends the job.

Azarenka reaches for the towel trailing 30-0. Tries to slow down the action, but Williams just slams another ace down the middle to move 40-0 clear. Williams pulls a backhand wide from deep as the score reaches 40-15 before hitting the net with a forehand. A tight shot by Williams. One of the few today. Williams responds with another fabulous ace down the middle. We are heading for the breaker in this match.
5-6
Azarenka finally discovers the key to a cheap point as she starts off the 11th game of the second set with a first ace of the match. Two thumping backhand winners from Azarenka leave her on the cusp of the game at 40-0. She ensures she will at least head to a breaker with another big first serve. Williams can't come up with the return. Azarenka coming to the boil at the right time in this contest.
5-5
Pressure? What pressure? That Williams serve is just a clubbing, demon of a weapon when the going gets tough. Throwing down the aces to drop only one point on serve in levelling at 5-5. Williams now with 18 aces in this match. That is some going.
4-5
Azarenka continues to grunt and groan her way around the court, but there is real purpose to the gait suddenly as she meanders her way to 40-15 ahead. She needs two points for a 5-4 lead in the second set. Williams with a poor backhand into the net seconds later after a probing serve. Heading perhaps for the key moment of this match. Williams must serve to remain in this second set. Really good hold by Azarenka.
4-4
Williams with 17 aces in this match compared to zilch from Azarenka. 34 winners compared to eight from Azarenka. All the key stats in favour of Williams as she levels up at 4-4 in this second set, but the score is 4-4 in this set. All to play for. Games on serve. Azarenka trying to force this match to a deciding set despite being pressed back by the power and exuberance of Williams.
3-4
Huge point confronting Azarenka on her second serve at 30-30. She mishits from the back of the court to hand Williams another break point for a 4-3 lead, but a decent first serve sees Williams hit the tape with a forehand return. Some fabulous defence by Azarenka, but she finally falters by knocking one from deep into the net. Another break point for Williams, who misses with a forehand. Williams misses with the return at deuce before going long seconds later. Azarenka leads 4-3. Super stuff.

BREAK AZARENKA! Williams perhaps getting a little bit tight as a clumsy couple of points hands Azarenka a 30-15 lead. Normal service resumed with an ace down the middle that weighs in with some real bite, but Azarenka brings her first break point of the match as Williams falters in a rally. A 15th ace of the match carries Williams to deuce only to hand Azarenka a second break when she knocks a backhand long. Williams fails to deal with an Azarenka return and we are level in this match at 3-3.
3-2
Azarenka has not played badly in this match, but has found the pace of Williams's general play too hot to handle. Williams just making mincemeat of the Azarenka serve. Reading her opponent's serve as another dispiriting return bounds beyond Azarenka to carry Williams to 30-15 ahead. Azarenka somehow fights her way to lead 40-30 before Williams empties a return into the net on the second serve. Solid work by Azarenka to keep her hopes alive in this contest. Williams remains a break up.
3-1
Williams loses the first point on serve, but an ace on the second serve and a backhand winner from the back of the court moves beyond Azarenka before she has time to gather herself. All going Williams's way out there. Williams slips in a rare unforced error with a forehand that tucks itself into the net. Azarenka does superbly well to win a long rally only for Williams to throw down an ace seconds later. Another ace puts another game to bed. Williams leads 3-1.

BREAK WILLIAMS! Azarenka cries out in anguish as she sees a backhand drop into the net to hand Williams another couple of break points before Williams wallops Azarenka's serve beyond her with some real venom. A brilliant return from Williams in what is turning into a vintage performance. She lets out a huge cry of joy, and she is heading for this final unless a meteor crashes into Wimbers in the next 15 minutes. Or unless Azarenka finds something special.
1-1
Azarenka inches away with an atempted lob as Williams towered over the net. That would have carried Azarenka 30-0 clear, but it is instead 15-15 before a kicked serve bamboozles Azarenka. We reach 30-30 as Azerenka dances along the baseline before converting the two-handed backhand like a baseball player, but Williams snuffs out the danger with a ninth ace. Williams whips a forehand wide from deep to go to deuce for the first time on serve, but a couple of brutal serves saves the day. 1-1.
0-1
Cries of "Come on, come on" pepper the air as Azarenka punches away a forehand drive to move 40-30 clear. Another weighty first serve is faded long by Williams on the return, and Azarenka is looking very animated. Trying to inject a bit of life into her play as she holds in the first game of the second set.
6-3

SET WILLIAMS! Williams powers her way to two set points. Azarenka saves one with a lovely backhand winner across court to save the first one, but Azarenka drops the return into the net on Williams's second serve. She is punching the air in some delight. Williams simply too good out there. The serve is causing all sort of problems for Azarenka.

BREAK WILLIAMS! The break was coming and comes in some style as Williams races onto an attempted drop shot by Azarenka to float a ball down the line for the first break of the match. The break was coming and comes in some style from Williams. Superb stuff from the tournament favourite, who will serve for the first set.
4-3
While Azarenka toils to live with Williams on her serve, Williams has no such problems as another game floats by with the American holding to love for a 4-3 lead. Williams winning an astonishing 100 per cent of points on first serve and 67 percent on second serve.
3-3
The power of Williams is something to behold as a crisp return is followed up by a brutal backhand winner down the line to bring up deuce. Williams comes galloping into the net to club a forehand beyond her opponent seconds later after Azarenka had discovered a winner down the line. The Australian Open winner shows resolve in the face of the storm by clipping away a forehand to level at 3-3. Followed by her customary shriek.
3-2
Williams powering through these service games like there is nobody at the other side of the net. Looking very focused and is certainly starting to unwind as she holds to love. Williams already with six aces and 10 winners in five games. Azarenka doesn't want to drop serve here.
2-2
Williams not as comfortable when she is backed up by Radwanska. The trouble is managing the feat on a consistent basis. An Azarenka serve flies back beyond her before her service action is over, but she wallops a forehand long seconds later. We remain on serve in this opening set at 2-2.
2-1
Williams appearing in her 21st Grand Slam semi-final. Comes up with three aces in one game to leave Azaranka looking on like a spectator. Azarenka has real problems if Williams continues at this pace.
