BARTOLI 6-1 6-2 - GAME, SET & MATCH! Flipkens denies Bartoli on a first match point with a blistering forehand winner down the line. But the Frenchwoman wraps things up at the second attempt with a smash winner across court.

BARTOLI 6-1 5-2 - Much better from Flipkens as she also posts a love service hold, sealing the game with a smash winner, to at least force Bartoli to serve out this match. Will the Frenchwoman get nervous?

BARTOLI 6-1 4-1 - BREAK! A double fault from Flipkens does not help her cause and Bartoli goes on to fashion two more break points with a lunging backhand return of serve down the line. A huge first serve winner from Flipkens saves the first but a lob seals the break at the second attempt for Bartoli, the Frenchwoman putting up a lob that Flipkens can only return wide after stretching up to just catch the ball with tip of her racquet.

BARTOLI 6-1 3-1 - BREAK! A fantastic forehand return of serve from Flipkens battered down the line for a winner sees her take the first point of the game. She then sneaks ahead again with a sliced backhand down the line that skids off the ground. a forehand volley into the net squanders the chance to earn a break point but Bartoli promptly sends a backhand long to gift Flipkens a break back point. Great pressure from the Belgian does see her break back when Bartoli again goes long.

BARTOLI 6-1 3-0 - BREAK! A fantastic half-volley from Flipkens which gets her off the mark in this game and is greeted by the biggest cheer of the afternoon from the crowd. But Bartoli earns herself another two break points with a cross court smash winner. She only needs the one though as Flipkens can only managed another forehand error.

BARTOLI 6-1 2-0 - Bartoli races through another quick service hold, sealing the game to 15 with another ace. Flipkens has called for the trainer at the next change of ends. She does have her right knee fairly heavily taped but there hasn't been too much sign of a problem.

BARTOLI 6-1 1-0 - BREAK! Bartoli gets a little bit of extra help when she completely mis-hits a forehand return only to see the ball bounce in. The Belgian gets off the mark with a forehand winner guided down the line but comes off second best when she attempts to mix it up with a spot of serve and volley. Two more break points for Bartoli. But she ony needs the one as she puts up a spectacular forehand lob across court that goes for a winner.

BARTOLI 6-1 - SET! Bartoli serves out the set with ease, firing an ace out wide that Flipkens cannot even react to in time to move. That was pretty overwhelming from Bartoli as Flipkens seems to be really struggling with her nerves.

BARTOLI 5-1 - BREAK! A serve out wide from Flipkens sits up right into the hitting zone of Bartoli, who thumps her backhand return down the line for a winner. A backhand drop shot and backhand lob winner from the Frenchwoman then sees her sneak 15-30 ahead. A single-handed forehand down the line, which a diving Flipkens can only return into the net, then earns Bartoli another two break points. The first goes begging with a netted backhand return but a forehand drive volley winner seals it.

BARTOLI 4-1 - A forehand wide across court from Bartoli quickly followed by a forehand winner down the line from Flipkens and the Belgian has a 15-30 lead against serve. Bartoli comes into the net to level up with a forehand volley before a big serve earns her a game point which she seals at the first chance when Flipkens slices a backhand drop shot attempt wide across court.
-
BARTOLI 3-1 - Flipkens races out to a 40-15 lead with two game points only to dump a forehand into the net after a heavy cross court backhand. But the Belgian does get her side of the scoreboard ticking over at the second attempt with a big first serve that Bartoli can only net in response.
-
BARTOLI 3-0 - Flipkens does well with a heavy second serve from Bartoli, forcing the Frenchwoman into a backhand error to bring up an immediate break back point. Bartoli saves it with a couple of huge backhands down the line, eventually drawing the error from Flipkens after the Belgian had showed some immense defensive skills. From deuce Bartoli goes on to hold with an ace but signs in that game that Flipkens is beginning to settle down.

The players are just about ready to go and it will be Bartoli to get the clash underway by serving first ...

Unsually for women's tennis this is a clash between two fairly diminuitive players - the 28-year-old Bartoli just 5' 6" 3/4 (the extra 3/4 obviously being incredibly important). But the 27-year-old Flipkens is even shorter - just 5'5".

These two have never met each other before so the first few games may well involve a certain amount of them testing each other out.
