KERBER 7-5 7-6 HALEP: GAME, SET, MATCH! Kerber’s flashing forehand draws her level at 1-1 and a defensive backhand forces an error from the Romanian for the mini break. Halep nets a regulation return and leans on her racket, looking down at the ground. Another missed return gives Kerber daylight at 4-1 and Halep looks done as she drags a tired backhand wide. Kerber gets really lucky with a net cord that Halep can’t deal with on a point dictated by the Romanian. It gives her a 6-2 lead and Halep hits long and the German is through to the semi-final!
